COMICS: Is A New SANDMAN Series From Neil Gaiman & JH Williams III On The Cards?

Sandman fans must have thought they would never see ol Morpheus's pale face again, at least not with Neil Gaiman holding the pen. But some rumors from SDCC suggest differently..

Neil Gaiman's Sandman is considered by many - me included - to be among the greatest comic series ever written. So even the sniff of a rumor of the man working on some new stories for Morpheus of The Endless should be enough to get fans very excited. Apparently Gaiman was approached by DC a few year s ago to write a prequel of sorts called Sandman Zero, which would have dealt with Morpheus's capture and imprisonment at the hands of a group of Occultists who had actually been trying to capture his sister, Death. Negotiations didn't work out, but now there are whispers of the project - or something like it - resurfacing.

Bleeding Cool report from Comic-Con..

Now, seemingly in the light of Before Watchmen, DC have approached Neil Gaiman again. And based on the bar talk at San Diego last night, we can presume that this time, if it is indeed the same Sandman premise and not something new, negotiations have been more successful.

And that's not all - the site also hear that superb Batwoman artist JH Williams III may also be involved. This is all just rumor for now of course, but we will update if any more info becomes available.

Loved JHWIII's work on Promethea. This would be a dream come true (sorry =D). And it would be WITH Neil, instead of going against his wishes like all the before watchmen people did with Alan Moore. Come on Lord Shaper, tell me a story....

if Gaiman is the one who's gonna write it, then have at it.

Why would anyone be against this if Gaiman was on board? I swear people are just waiting to jump all over something so they can have a good moan!

This could be true to a very very large extent, since DC hinted that there would be a huge news coming out from vertigo during the comic-con.

He better do it and have full creative control or they'll just do it without him. If true, I can't wait. I'm hoping for some form of New 52-Reboot/ Sequel, with the new Morpheus, set up at the end of the old series.
