In an article on DC's overhauling of their Vertigo imprint over at NY Times.com, the site reveal that Neil Gaiman's new Morpheus miniseries will now be known as The Sandman: Overture and will be published bi-monthly with the first issue debuting October 30th.

Says Gaiman on returning to his most famous creation:

“The most peculiar thing for me about returning to ‘Sandman’ is how familiar it all feels. When I was writing ‘Sandman’ from 1987 to 1996, I never had the feeling at any point that approximately 50 million people were looking over my shoulder scrutinizing ever word.”

Can't wait for october! I hope Dave McKean will do the covers for the series.
I'm ok and glad that J.H.Williams III will be doing art duties for this but for me Sandman won't be Sandman without Dave Mckean. Pumped and excited for this!

Neil has said that he would never do a story with Daniel after the series ended. I believe this story is of Morpheus before he was captured. He tells the story of the battle that he was returning from when captured.

But don't quote me on that.

I just hope Neil doesn't let DC muck it up.

I think the idea of Daniel would work as an adaptation device. Were they ever to do a film or a TV series or even a series of DC Universe DVDs.
