COMICS: Preview Of The Dark Knight #1

COMICS: Preview Of The Dark Knight #1

Surely one of the most anticipated DCnU titles coming our way, here is a 4 page preview of The Dark Knight #1 by Paul Jenkins and David Finch featuring a few very nasty Bat villains escaping from Arkham..

These were downloaded via ipod by the guys at Gotham Spoilers, hence artist David Finch's head on the pages. Anyone who has read Jenkins' work on Hellblazer and Wolverine will most definitely be excited to see what he does with The Caped Crusader. Finch will also co-write some issue of the series I believe.

The Dark Knight struggles against a deadly – yet strangely familiar – foe in this phenomenal debut issue from superstar writer/artist David Finch (BRIGHTEST DAY, ACTION COMICS)!

As a mysterious figure slinks through the halls of Arkham Asylum, Batmanmust fight his way through a gauntlet of psychos, and Bruce Wayne faces the unexpected legal ramifications of Batman Incorporated!

Be sure to check out The Dark Knight #1 when it hits shelves September 28th.

"This and Capullo's Batman are best DRAWN books in the new 52."

Have you heard of this little book called Batwoman?

I prefer Finch's Marvel stuff, but this looks pretty good.

This is going to be epic because Paul Jenkins is writing is and Finch is ONLY doing the art. This book was terrible when Finch was writing and drawing it on his own.
Woah, go Trudy!

Its really good to see Finch making the effort to make his faces look different too. And I totally agree Intruder, Lee's JL, Capullo's Batman, Finch's Batman, and Im edging on Manapul's flash and William's Batwoman. DC have put some pretty good talent out there for the first wave. I just hope they can keep it up.

As a big CBM fan but not a comic fan (unless u count buffy comics), can someone tell me why Mr Freeze has been put in an asylum and yet emerges with his super advanced ice suit thing? 1. Why would they keep a weapon like that in the asylum he's in. 2. Why wouldn't it be destroyed? I know it's a comic, but...c'mon.

@Piggy, Finch has a great understanding of muscles to the point he can practically draw and label the human anatomy. But at the same time he knows features need to be exaggerated for the comic book medium. and regarding faces, every artist has their weaknesses. It good to see here that Finch made the effort to shake it up a bit.

@connorblaze: It's only his suit you're seeing, and his suit isn't a weapon although his gun is. His gun isn't there, though. He needs his refridgerated suit to stay alive. Due to his condition and the illness of his wife he went insane and made the gun. Arkham doesn't want to kill Mr. Freeze or they'd spark much controvesary and loose funding. They want to help Mr. Freeze. So they give him his suit, but they do not give him his gun.

The Suit would look better if the belt was black, anyway batman will always rule :)

@trudy Haha Marvel would pay you out the ass for that! lol [frick] fanboys :P They have no idea that they're missing out on good titles from both publishers. No offence to 'the biggest Marvel troll of all time' XD

Most anticipated? I was pretty sure the poor performance from the preceding story essentially made this book dead on arrival.

Breaking out of Arkham Asylum is being overdone these days.

In "Gotham Sirens" at least there was a build-up at least, but now, it´s being done cheaply.

@ckal It's in a nearly exponential decline. It sold 89,985 books in the first issue, #2 saw a 21% fall with 71,108 sold, #3 lost another 11% with sales totaling 62,792, 4 continued the trend with an 8% decline and 57,333 issues sold.

It's bleeding readers like crazy and there are no signs of it stopping.

The artistry looks good, but it doesn't seem to have much affect on me. I honestly think Long Halloween abd Dark Victory had incredible art work---it was so different and unique. It fit Batman. And Jeph Loeb did a great story.

And I'm trying to figure our if that's the Joker in the right-hand corner. If it is, I'm sorry to say it looks nasty.
