COMICS: Variant Cover For BATMAN/SUPERMAN #1 Revealed

A new epic begins with the debut of this new, ongoing series! Don’t miss the first fateful meeting of Batman and Superman in The New 52!

The last team up series for Bats and Supes was Superman/Batman from Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness back in 2003, but this time we'll get a fresh spin on things because this new series, Batman/Superman, will deal with the early days of the two iconic characters, and how they first crossed paths.

Says Greg Pak of coming up with a brand new origin story for the first meeting of Batman and Superman..

"We've been given the incredible opportunity to show these two icons meeting for the first time at this very early and raw stage in their careers. Neither one of them has ever heard of the other guy....What would your reaction be if you saw a guy running around in a bat costume in the dead of night attacking people for the first time? And what would your reaction be if you met an alien who could crush steel in his bare hands for the first time? These guys are going to have very different immediate impressions of each other than we're used to seeing with these characters...There's an element of danger to the book that I think is very real and very exciting."

@ elcaballerooscuro92 - Batman said he kept and eye on him and Superman seemed to have an idea of Batman, he told him that his belt is empty.

Either way, another chance for Supes to put the beatdown on Batman. =)

I like how their first meeting was in the second issue of the New 52, and yet they have a first meeting here. Literally two years out before the DCnU starts contradicting itself.

Will someone tel Jae Lee to at least TRY to not do cross-property ripoffs for a New Series. View below. Dark Tower's Sheemie Ruiz (Marvel graphic novels) apparently being screwed with by the same robots bats is stepping on:

They must use the MoS suit in the New 52.

Finally, some interesting, creative art from DC! Beautiful!

How can you guys not like this but drool over the Superman unchained works? All of those are derivative (sometimes purposefully so) and several, including Timm's, have severe anatomy problems...yet these, you gripe about? WTH?

@Gusto - agree on the suit. At the very least, Lee and co. need to consider taking some basic design classes. Several issues w/his Superman suit design and it breaks my brain. Yeah. He can simply look at the movie's outfit to see the problems.

@griff - Ha! Yes! At least the colorist tried to make it look interesting.

I would bring back the original suit if I could. Doubt it will happen, at least not in forseeable future.

Here is how I would fix to two dominant suits currently. If we are going to give the suit texture, I prefer the MOS suit to the pieced-together look of the New 52. I so prefer the collar line of the old, classic suit/MOS. I would give the MOS suit a red belt like in the New 52 (although I like the trunks look.
What can I say. I'm old school.

The B&W Superman portrait is really nice.

The Batman isn't bad either.

The first color looks good, but Superman's t-shirt is really flat and doesn't fit like an actual t-shirt.

I don't like the 2nd full color. The suits look like cotton and it feels more like a bad ballet than a comic.

Jae Lee is one of my most favorite artists. His work he did for Marvel's Dark Tower comics is amazing.

Bummed they are adding more and more to their plate of continuity issues. Honestly it seems at this point they just said [frick] it and they don't care anymore.

However, I'm excited to have a new Batman/Superman series. If they keep it on its own, then it shouldn't matter when it's supposed to take place in the timeline, they'll just be fun stories.
