IRWIN HASEN, Co-Creator Of WILDCAT And DONDI, Passes Away At The Age Of 96
Legendary comic artist and co-creator of DC's Wildcat, Irwin Hasen, passed away Friday morning at the age of 96. The born and raised Brooklyn artist was DC's last surviving artist from World War II.
In some sad news legendary DC ccmics artist Irwin Hasen has passed away Friday morning at the age of 96. At the start of the Golden Age of comics Hasen found work on the likes of The Green Hornet at Harry Chesler's studioand then National Comics, the precursor to DC Comics. During his DC career, he worked on Green Lantern, The Flash, Johnny Thunder and Justice Society of America. He also created Wildcat alongside Bill Finger,and created the strip Dondi, with Gus Edson which ran from 1955 to 1986.
Comic book historian commented on the artist's passing saying, "(Hasen) was DC's last surviving artist from World War II, so DC’s ‘Golden Age of Comics’ has come to a close, 77 years after it began."
