RESULTS: One Year Later...What Do You Think About "The New 52" Now?

A few days ago, we asked you exactly how you feel about the controversial reboot of the DC Universe almost a year after it happened. Well, it appears as if most of you are fans of "The New 52", but the results may still surprise you! Hit the jump to check them out.

Feature Opinion

Starting with Justice League #1, DC Comics rebooted their convoluted (and arguably confusing) continuity this time last year with 52 new #1 issues. Some titles featured characters who hadn't been featured prominently in their own books for quite some time (Animal Man, Swamp-Thing), others wiped untold amounts of stories from history (Supergirl), and a few even offered an entirely new perceptive on iconic heroes (Aquaman). A few titles actually remained pretty much the same (Green Lantern) or just had impressive creative team shake-ups (Batman). The question we asked you was whether or not you guys consider it to have been a success. Well, below are the results in full, and as you can see, it appears that the majority of you have been pleased with the direction of "The New 52" so far. Should Marvel follow in their footsteps?

I've enjoyed The Justice League, The Flash and some of the Earth-2 stories. For me, the New 52 was a welcomed change.

WOULDN'T have a problem with them starting from scratch, and doing a reboot IF that's truly what they were doing.

- Instead, all we have here is a relaunch for some characters, while other pre-existing story arcs are (somehow) left intact, only because Geoff Johns doesn't want to see the story lines he worked on suddenly not have a place in the current continuity.

DC has attempted to 'reboot' their universe several times now over the years, but never has it truly been what a reboot should be - a ground-up, starting from scratch, retelling of each characters origin stories, leading up to the introduction of the Justice League, roughly a year or so after the initial relaunch.

Bottom line - Trying to shoehorn the old continuity with the new is like oil and water...

Oh well, I'm sure DC will give us another 'reboot' in about 10 - 15 years.

if marvel wants to reboot, they should bring the ultron war or the 2099 or the A-Next or whatever that are claimed to be in the future to the present... just like in terminator 3&4 "future is now"
tell the story of these epic endings, give us a satisfying end, and then reboot them really from scratch

but hey no need to reboot actually

I have enjoyed the New 52 for sure. Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern, Justice League, and I've been getting The Dark Knight and Arkham Unhinged. I have bought some of the others but those are my mainstays.

I've really enjoyed most of the titles I read. A few things disappointed me like losing some of the history with the titans, jsa, firestorm, and hawkman. I love earth 2 though and I think the reboot is probably more good title than bad. Whig is fine cause I have a budget anyways.

So from this we know:

1/4 of the people either hate it or never bothered with it
1/2 the people have mixed feelings
1/4 think it's excellent

that averages out to an almost perfectly mixed reaction...

Some things have been great such as making Aquaman cool for the first time, Court of Owls had amazing moments and I even loved the Dark Seid story arc if only to hint at things to come.
Awful things were the semi reboot that played major favoritism on who's history stayed and who's went. Really shitting on character like Tim Drake. Also, how can Superman and Wonder Woman hook up so soon? You can't date someone else after that. At the end of the day it still feels like a marketing scheme to make money with a few cheap thrills. I'd rather have a true reboot for a new generation but I'll keep reading hoping for the best.

I really liked the first half of the year. Some things petered out. But I'm still pulling:

Batwing, Batman, Batwoman, Batman and Robin, Animal Man, Action Comics, Flash
Aquaman, Stormwatch, Wonderwoman, Swamp Thing, Earth 2, and Justice League

So I'm diggin' It.

Every single issue of the new 52 Batman has been absolutely fantastic. Wonder Woman has (surprisingly) been my second favorite of the group, with the JLA coming up third, and the new Superman coming in fourth.

Batman is far and away better than them all, but the ones ive mentioned have all had some really great moments that make them worth keeping up with for the long haul.

@repulse93 In the UK a batman guidebook has been released about a week ago and confirms Steph still exists in the New 52 but is no longer Batgirl or Robin and has reverted back to her Spoiler identity.

Haven't read past the weekly 52 series in '06.

I feel like the characters have already been defined, their crowning moments already published... what's left?

I like a few books that DC has put out like Red Hood, Batman and Robin Green Lantern and well The Flash is the best book in new 52 by far! and with green lantern about to possibly become a total wreck with Baz Flash might end up being the only one I keep on my pull list at my local comic shop...but I will wait and see. I really hope that Jim Lee brings back Wildcats like he wants too!

@earzmundo

check out Uncanny X-Force buddy its crazy good.

Batman, Aquaman and Wonder Woman are excellent reads (still need to catch up on Swamp & Animal). Justice League has been seriously dissapointing they should have read Ultimates volume 1 to see how to shake things up a bit. As for Superman....

...Shame

I lik the idea of Cyborg in the JLA and most of the new costumes but if the model the movies after it leave OUT Aquaman and leave IN Cyborg. Im subbed to Action and superman and honestly othr than from a collection stand point they havent been interesting or tbh made any sense story wise.
