SPOILERS: Identity of 'Masked Superman' Revealed In FUTURES END #17

After teasing the reveal of the man under the Superman mask in a preview, DC Comics finally unveiled his identity in today's The New 52: Futures End #17. While the experts below are collated from several different sources, (Bleeding Cool, Newsarama and r/comicbooks) it turns out that Billy Batson, aka Shazam, has been acting as the Man of Steel, as many fans speculated. After a lengthy fight with Rampage, Billy finally gets a chance to let loose the iconic word and reverts back to his (slightly) younger self. This puts an end to rumblings of Kal-El now being disfigured or becoming half-cyborg (as seen in the initial Superman: Futures End one-shot cover, now changed to feature Masked Superman), as the original Superman comes crashing down back to Earth (sporting a look not dissimilar to Henry Cavill in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel). You'll obviously need to read the issue to get the whole story, but this is about as much information as we've gotten so far. So what do you think? Did you guess this months ago, or were you hoping it would be somebody else?

I haven't been paying attention to this stuff, so...

Is all this stuff in cannon? I don't think it is, but is it?

@MrBlackjack
I only read the first few issues but I believe this is a possible future of the current DC Universe. I don't think this will be canon in five years, though.

Probably just in time for Marvel's Forever Evil event to start.

@MrBlackJack:

There's no such thing as DC canon anymore. They have about as much continuity as Looney Tunes these days.
