COMICS: Scott Snyder Responds To Reports That He's Leaving BATMAN

With the initial rumor of DC Comics' reboot and the subsequent confirmation from co-Publishers Jim Lee and Dan DiDio, the additional rumor of Scott Snyder leaving Batman seems all the more plausible. Here's Snyder's reaction to the report.

For those of you who missed the news, five days ago, BleedingCool first reported that DC Comics was planning another publisher-wide reboot/re-launch of its entire line.  That same day, DC Entertainment confirmed that rumor by releasing a teaser for DC Comics: Rebirth.  However, there was a second part to BleedingCool's report, that Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo were leaving the flagship Batman title but staying in the city of Gotham by moving to the Detective Comics series.  Here's Scott Snyder's reaction to the report, in which he seemingly confirms that he and Greg Capullo are leaving Batman but they're both re-teaming on a new DC Comics project.

"You know you missed something when you're off twitter for a snowday w/the kid & you come back to inboxes full of PITCHES from folks who want your job, lol.  So you know, I'm stealing ALL your goddam pitches :).  But thank you guys sincerely for all the kind words on the time Greg Capullo and I have gotten to spend together on Batman. Means a lot.  We still have some time left together - issue 50 and 51, which are truthfully 2 of my favorites, 50 is all out fun - and we're just enjoying it.  I see that a bunch of you have questions about what I'm doing next - which is touching in itself, so thank you - but my feeling is, while I genuinely couldn't be more excited for what's coming (been planning it a long time) the next couple months are really about celebrating my brother-in-arms, Greg Capullo & the time we have left on Batman together. My focus here will be all on that. Hope u understand.  The funny thing is Greg Capullo is only gone for like 6 months before we start working on our biggest DC stuff together, so it's barely a break! Hope to wow u even more w/ what Greg Capullo and I have next, but this run together has been the ride of my life & I'm really grateful to you guys for it. Learned to be a better writer, better person from Greg Capullo - thanks for supporting us so long. You rock."

Snyder doesn't confirm that he's moving to Detective Comics but it's nice to have confirmation that the dynamic team of Snyder and Capullo will remain together for a little bit longer.  Scott Snyder started writing the flagship Batman title in 2011 (teaming with Capullo) at the onset of DC's New 52 and was .  This came after  a somewhat brief stint on Detective Comics that started in January 2011.  After five years, it looks to be true that Snyder is stepping away from Batman and moving to Detective Comics.  What that shift means is anyone's guess.  Just because Snyder is staying in Gotham doesn't mean he'll necessarily be writing Batman.  Perhaps Snyder will focus on the GCPD or the new Jim Gordon-Batman? Hopefully we'll have details fairly soon but in the meantime, lets do as Snyder suggests and celebrate his and Capullo's stellar run with The Dark Knight.
