DREDD Lives On As A "Dark Judges" Online Miniseries

We may never see an official sequel to Pete Travis' much-loved Dredd, but as a thank you to the loyal fans, the movie's executive producer Adi Shankar has announced that we'll be getting a seven-part miniseries later this month which will focus on Dark Judges Death, Fear, Fire, and Mortis.

While we all wait and see if anything will come of the chatter surrounding a sequel to Dredd (Spoiler: it probably won't), producer Adi Shankar has a treat for the legions of fans that have stood behind the film, even as it failed to set the box office on fire. Shankar, who also brought us the Punisher: Dirty Laundry and Venom: Truth in Journalism shorts, has secretly been working on a seven-part miniseries focusing on the Dark Judges, that will be available to watch online for free later this month. No word yet on whether Karl Urban will return to don the helmet again, but the producer did manage to get Thomas Jane back to play Frank Castle for the Punisher short so it's definitely a possibility. Below is Shankar's video, thanking the fans for their support.

Transmorfers4 makes a billion dollars and Dredd doesnt even get a sequel... F@ckibg Tetris is made into a movie, and still no more Dredd... Let's put that in perspective. Tetris - yes. Judge Dredd - no! Ther is no more hope for man. Retardation has become airborn.

I really want to see a sequel to the Dredd movie. It was so right in so many ways.

Loved Dredd big time, but I would rather see Judge Anderson (The Psychic) in this and Olivia Thirlby is big into the indie, low budget movie scene.

I wanted an adaptation of the Cursed Earth saga where Dredd has to deal with a gang turf war between McDonalds, Burger King and the Jolly Green Giant. But...you know...this is good too.

I thought the new Dredd was kinda over-rated...I liked it, but not as much as seemingly everyone else on here...

I would have loved a film but we can't always get what we want. I'm just happy that Dredd is continuing in some other way. I'll be looking forward to these Dredd shorts.

It's really terrible that Dredd didn't had the success it deserved. Sadly, what happened to it, along with 300 and Sin City wil, probably come off as a warning: if you're not DC or Marvel, don't even bother.

Too bad, considering Dredd was a lot more entertaining than some MCU movies. It was a bit of fresh air that we probably won't be getting again. Theatrically, that is.

Dredd doesn't need a sequel. It bombed for a reason.

DREDD was awesome. A real treat for real fans of true bad ass action films.
No pussy PG crap,no catering to the masses. It was true to the character & needs a sequel.

Awesome appreciation video! Thank YOU Shankar. Dredd definitely was/is one of the best CBM's ever. The story was solid and contained, the plot made sense, the performances were top notch, the cinematography was off the [frick]in' chain, and it was memorable (unlike certain X, or Spider movies).

THE PROBLEM with DREDD was the piece of shit MARKETING. NO ONE, except us, even knew it was in theaters.

This is great news! Dredd was all kinds of gruesome, over-the-top fun (it felt almost like a modern day John Carpenter film, a la Escape From New York). I also loved both of Shankar's Bootleg Universe shorts, and if this is in the same vein as those it should be a fun time.

DREDD was perfect. For you to say its ok its overrated well I say [frick] YOU and your opinion your taste is shit. And I could give a [frick] less about what you think of it cause I love it. Go watch some mediocre bs with absolutely no balls. Go watch TASM movies or the bs fox men movies. You have no testicles. peace dick munchers.
