Earths Mightiest R&B: Avengers SOUNDTRACK

Earths Mightiest R&B: Avengers SOUNDTRACK

With the release of Captain America:The Winter Soldier we all pretty much know Cap's list of things to discover, Troubleman by the great late Marvin Gaye to example. With that said I found the best Old School R&B songs that match the cast of Avengers:Age of Ultron from Sam Cooke to Billie Holiday . WARNING: DO NOT ENTER IF YOU AIN'T GOT NO SOUL JACK!

  • Captain America-Trouble Man by Marvin Gaye (12/8/1972)

“I come up hard, but that's okay”

Captain America:The Winter Soldier had a great reference to the album. This song does feel like the theme to Steve Rogers life. Marvin mentions how he came up hard, Steve went through a terrible period where the world was at war with itself. Marvin also says but now he's fine, Steve in an ironic way is not fine dealing the the hardships of everything he missed weighing on him. “Taxes, death and trouble, This I know baby” a line that would live greatly in Marvin's life, just as Steve endures “Traitors, Death and Trouble”. SHIELD is not the only place where both eyes should be open, he has dealt with a backstabbing by his own team, but even friends and loved ones. Steve Rogers is the Trouble Man who came doing it by the book and that is okay because he had to learn to get out the tough way.

  • Iron Man-Never Too Much by Luther Vandross (7/21/1981)

“You're At The Top Of My List Because I'm Always Thinking Of You”

What would one say is at the top of Starks list Pepper, the Iron Man armor, the World? Iron Man Three explored that question and gave us an answer....right. It was a bizarre love triangle between Tony, Pepper and the armor. He loves Pepper to a great extent and all the years spent together is heart felt. When it comes down to the subject Tony still wants her protection and he couldn't see a day without her. He cannot ever tire from spending a million days in her arms, he has all he wants. The armor though will always be his Da Vinci, no matter how much he thinks he can give it up that will always be the root of his success and notoriety. Pepper will be an easy target for villains who want Starks death, he will need to don the suit “Come Out Of Retirement”. When it comes to being the Iron Man for Tony Stark it is never too much.

  • Thor-Love & Happiness by Al Green (4/1/1972) or Whats Going On by Marvin Gaye(5/21/1971)

“Nothing Wrong With Being In Love With Someone”
"War Is Not The Answer, For Love Can Only Conquer Hate"

What ties Thor to Midgard so much, it is the unconditional love he has for the people. Thor loves Jane he'd bring her to Asgard, fight his people and defy his father, the All-Father to quote Al Green “Something That Can, Make You Do Wrong”. He loves Jane and only wants happiness. The love he has for Loki is to do right. Destroying the Rainbow Bridge and bringing him home was to do right. Thors love for his family and friends makes him devoted to do the maximum. When that love has been secured onto the happiness. This one was troublesome because I also thought that “Marvin Gayes Whats Going On” was a great fit plus the brother, brother conflict.

  • Hulk-Little Child, Running Wild by Curtis Mayfield(7/1/1972)

“Why Couldn't They Just Let Me Be, Let Me Be, Let Me Be, Let Me Be”

Bruce Banners life “Kind Of Sad”, his personality view “Kind Of Mad”. When I hear Curtis mentioning the plight of a man lost in the world and spiraling down into drugs I can see Bruce Banner. A little guy all alone because he must be due to an uncontrollable rage. “He Lives Outside” Bruce is off the map away from everything, he did not want to be an Avenger it was called to him. “I Got A Jones, Runnin' Through Ma' Bones” when he begins to Jones the Jade Giant is unleashed. Like Curtis he finds it hard to deal with his pain ripping him into two personality’s a child and the wild. The little child Bruce Banner running wild as the Hulk all his life it's been this way.

  • Black Widow-Easy Living by Billie Holiday(1/1/1935)

“I Never Regret The Years I'm Giving”

Widows history is not the cleanest hence the red on her ledger. A thought occurs though about why she switched sides was it a need for change, remorse or did a close person have enough influence. “I'm Happy To Do Whatever I Do For You” Widow is a very dedicated agent just like Hawkeye. Barton didn't kill Widow which prompted a great pairing with the two. This probably didn't sit well with Fury which is why “People Say You Rule Me With One Wave Of A Hand”. Widow does feel for what she did in her past which is why life is not Easy Living for her.

  • Hawkeye-Crusin' by Smokey Robinson(9/1/1979)

“You're Going To Fly Away, Glad You're Going My Way”

Barton always worked great with a pairing. Typically Widow, Mockingbird, Hulk, Panther or Captain America. Though any of those matches would be great we all know that when Hawkeye is with the ladies the plans go his way. The way this guy has the cool expressions on his face when he shoots arrows like it's just so casual. He cruises his way through danger like chilling on a rooftop and calling out shots. “And Inch By Inch, We Get Closer And Closer” Hawkeye works in the most sly ways that get him just inches away from the solution.

  • War Machine-I Want To Be Free by The Ohio Players(1/1/1975)

“One Day Child, I Won't Have To Listen To Your Lies”

Rhodey lives in a House Of Lies...........get it. I digress Rhodey recently dealt with betrayal in the White House. If Iron Man Three was a lesson it was a huge one for Rhodey. Unlike Rhodey who has a duty to the country, Cap's duties are in the world. “And All Those Things You Told Me, I Could Never Conceive” in Iron Man Two Rhodey stole his best friends suit and his own country used it against them in a way. Allowing Hammer to weaponize it he realized the mistake he made. “I'll Be Able To Make Up My Own Mind” I believe there will be a point in which Rhodey must make a decision on his friends or his order, just as Cap had to. Rhodey must see the truth in the people he works for in order to get to the freedom he deserves and the War can be released from the Machine.

  • JARVision-Just My Imagination by The Temptations(1/1/1971)

“But It Was Just My Imagination, Running Away With Me”

JARVIS has evolved since we seen Iron Man. We've seen the few subtle hints of him possibly becoming more self aware. He is completely connected to Starks armor so him becoming Vision would be spectacular “I Tell You, I Can Visualize It All”. “Soon We'll Be Married And Raise A Family” will Vision marry Scarlet Witch and have the half mutant/android children. Will JARVIS become self aware and violent or is it something he never met he can forget.

  • Nick Fury-Papa Don't Talk No Mess by James Brown(8/7/1974)

“Papa Is The Man Who Will Take A Stand"

This might seem very lazy, but Nick Fury has always been a bad mother[frick]er. The Captain America:The Winter Soldier car chase scene explains alone why “He Definitely Ain't No Trick, Oh Yeah”.

  • Scarlet Witch-It's Magic by Dinah Washington(1/1/1959)

“The World Becomes A Wonderland, It's Magic”

  • Quicksilver-Keep On Pushin' by The Impressions(7/1/1964)

“I'll Reach That Higher Goal”

“A Great Big Stone Wall Stands There Ahead Of Me” Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are going to be connected to Hydra. The twins are stuck in a Hydra spell, they are under their command which makes them the enemies. The become allies though so they will have to go through some retribution. For Wanda I believe that both songs can apply. She is also working for Hydra but has the best power of all, she can perceive things differently than her brother. It's not just the magical abilities he possess it is the power to see a light in somethng dark, i.e. Vision. Plus “When I'm In Your Arms, It's Magic” just kidding incest is gross. Dinah sings a beautiful song about the magic of being together changing reality.

  • Ultron-A Change Is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke(12/22/1964)

“But He Winds Up Knockin' Me, Back Down On My Knees”

This one was hard to choose, because Ultron has a mission to eradicate all existence on Earth and rebuild it in the right image. Sam Cooke sings a song about the plight of a damaged young man into the light. Ultron knows that humanity is flawed that destruction by their own hand is futile. In order to ensure Earths safety the life on it must be gone. As Ultron sated in Earths Mightiest Heroes it is the only way. Unless everyone on the planet loved each other, pfft. “It's Been A Long, Long Long Time Coming, But A Change Gone Come” Ultron deserves a chance to bring a change to a world that cannot rid of hatred, war, bigotry and pollution
