Hi CBM,
Following a few days without any CMB movie related news, i started thinking that the 2 movies that Marvel and DC might give us a year, seem to be not enough these days. In a world where big money is in CBM properties and everyone wants in on the action, we as fans are getting the chance to see almost all of them in one form or the other. We've got the Marvel MCU, which promises to deliver most of their properties on screen. They have gotten the rights to some properties back from various film studios and are going to bring them to TV in a solo/leading to a team up kind of series.
Now that sounds great, the reason why i think they choose TV for those guys is that the MCU is not on Phase 2 going to an end, and with Vision, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver joining in The Avengers, they are full of characters.
DC on the other hand already established that a B character can actually work good on TV with patient writting that does not rush you in a world full of masked vigilantes. It builds up slowly and introduces a character when required by the story. Will the Flash be as good as Arrow, we can only wait and see for that. With GOTHAM already one episode in, i can say for sure, even without Batman this show is briliant enought for my taste. With Batman we have a long list of negative characters that have their own origins as intresting as his own. We can withness the birth of The Penguin, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Riddler and hopefully many more along the way. Even if the shows end with only one episode where Bruce is wearing a kick ass Batman costume, i will be happy for life.

Now TV seems to be a better home for reality based (as much as the word can be used for superheroes) heroes, than your Superpowered heroes, example Smallville vs Arrow. Superman is much more popular in the world that Green Arrow, but that does not help the TV series stand out from Arrow. Reason being that Superman requires a tons of money to look as it should be, Arrow not so much.
Its a big issue that Flash might need to face, will the FX be on point, will we laught it off or actually be nailed to our TV sets and enjoy it as we did Quicksilver in XMEN DOFP (amazing job).
A good example of fake hopes for a SuperPowered TV show is Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, since the first episode aired we haven't had much fun in terms of the MCU being actually a part of the show in a major way. And belive me i've read a lot of praise about how Marvel is sharing TV and movies in the same universe, really did not see it there. There was a Thorless cameo and some Nick Furry, but they did not really put the super in Super Powers. Anyway if the Avengers 2 make 3 billion they might redirect some money to them and start doing decent FX soon, we hope maybe.

In any way i dont think it will help the show that much, as it seems to be missing a more personal approach to the characters in it. I dont enjoy the assemble a lot, characters like Skye, Leo and Jemma just have been miscast and misused in a big way. I can also do without a hacker chick in Arrow as well, when the Arrow cave has a list of 20 people that have visited it gets to much for me, just stick to the roots and dont let so many people in dude.
Now in Movies we can enjoy the genre evolving, a lot of spot on portrayals and some more than good FX, examples like X Men DOFP, Man of Steel, Avengers etc, in the future i envision a more easy FX transition due to easy accessible FX in our days, better story telling and much more time to explain each character. Imagine a JLA TV Show with proper FX, solo TV shows for the members, an origin for each villain and hero..this is the dream. Movies at this point relly on 3 or 4 big climatic scenes and in no way you can stuff 2 hours with a back story for everyone these days.
In MCU this can be seen in characters such as Hawkeye, Black Widow and probably Scarlet Witch, QuickSilver and The Vision. Why not do a solo Black Widow, Hawkeye and a team up for the brother sister duet.
With DC we expect characters like Flash and Green Lantern to be shortened by the initial lack of solo movies, so could be Wonder Woman and AquaMan. Lets hope that in 20 years FX will be nothing more than having a computer and a green screen available and we can enjoy this on TV every week.
Not that we can complain at the moment Marvel are going to bring Ant Man soon, we have Avengers 2 being completed, new TV show DDevil. Dc will give us BVS and JLA, and if that makes the money they hope, we will definitelly get solo movies from DC.
Fingers crossed, that everyone will get their favourite in one form or another.
