AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #875 Preview Reveals What Happened After Harry Osborn Died In SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #200

Nick Spencer has retconned "Sins Past" in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man, but we get more "One More Day" teases in this first look at his final issue (picking up in the wake of Harry Osborn's death).

Nick Spencer's Amazing Spider-Man run wraps up with next Wednesday's issue #875, and the writer clearly has big plans for Peter Parker before he bids the wall-crawler adieu. In this first look at the issue, we pick up with Harry Osborn moments after he died in that ambulance in the pages of Spectacular Spider-Man #200.

The former Green Goblin finds himself in Hell and face-to-face with Mephisto (who is quick to remind him of the many sins he hasn't earned forgiveness for). While it was Norman who sold his son's soul to the devil, it's clear there's a bigger plan at play here, and it seems the Marvel Universe's devil has spent a long time plotting to get his hands on Peter Parker's pure soul.

Spencer has a lot to address in this issue, though, including those big "One More Day" teases he's been dropping, the true identity of Kindred, and what the deal is with that other Harry Osborn.

"It’s all lead to this... 'Hunted,' 'Sins Rising,' 'Last Remains,' 'King’s Ransom,' 'Chameleon Conspiracy,' 'Sinister War' ...and so much more all led to this climax and conclusion to Nick Spencer’s landmark run on the best comic book in the world," reads the solicitation text. "What will happen with Peter and MJ, Mysterio, J. Jonah Jameson, Norman Osborn, Aunt May and Kindred?!"

By the time all is said and done, something tells us Peter and Mary Jane Watson will be married again. However, with Ben Reilly about to take over as Spider-Man, it's hard to say what the plan for the original wall-crawler is and what the ramifications of his deal with the devil will actually be.

Hopefully, this conclusion doesn't disappoint and you can see more preview pages at CBR

I like how people are hoping for one more day to be undone, while also hoping it'll be adapted in the mcu.

@Origame - To be fair, MCU made a great movie out of Civil War, one of their worst comic stories of all-time. A MCU version of OMD would have to be very different anyway, since it would young, still immature teenager going through with it, he isn't married, so that wouldn't be the price and his Aunt May isn't practically a walking mummy ready to die at any second, so if saving her was also the stakes of a movie version, it wouldn't feel as dumb.

@FinnishDude - I understand there was problems, but one of their worst stories? Come on.
dracula

@Origame - They wrote Cap like Ultimate Cap and turned Tony Stark into an even bigger A hole.

Hulk was 100% right about the Illuminati during World War Hulk. they were terrible in that era

@dracula - While some writers took it to an extreme, generally Cap was portrayed as someone fighting in a war.

Cap also wasn't part of the Illuminati that sent Hulk into space.

@dracula - so? Again, I really don't see how this makes it one of their worst.

@FinnishDude - I have to disagree with you on “worst comic stories of all time”. In my opinion, it had its flaws but they were manageable.

@Origame

Every characters is given full Mark Millar a-hole make-over for the sake of conflict. Captain America, who is suddenly crazy drill sergeant, and Iron Man, who is suddenly OK with his friends and allies dying or being put in a Negative Zone prison, especially.

The legislation is kept vague and never really explained, so you don't even know what is at stake exactly.

The black guy is the only heroic character to die.

The way the conflict is resolved is dump.

I could keep going. Civil War, the comic event, sucks.

@FinnishDude - 1) much of this is your opinion. This is something people have been wanting to see as a movie for years, like right when we were getting cap and iron man in a universe.

2) that's the same thing with the mcu version.

3) so? That has nothing to do with the quality of the writing. Not to mention how much that death effected things.

4) cap realized he'd rather be a hero than keep the conflict going. I really don't see what's so dumb here.

@Origame - 1) What has this to do with anything I said?

2) I can tell you the important bits of Sokovia accords ("The Avengers will work under UN now"), but the registeration act? Other than "superheroes have to register" I have no idea what they are fighting for.

3) It's very much in poor taste or very least tone deaf.

4) "You can't blame heroes for the collateral damage... Oh no, I caused collateral damage, I suck now"

@FinnishDude - 1) the fact you called this the worst. You need to understand this is an opinion of yours.

2) they have to work for the government and have their identity known to the public. We also know the important bits of it there too.

3) it really isn't. Someone had to die for the next part of the conflict to happen. And the story doesn't comment on skin color. You're making a bigger deal about this than it needs to me. Especially since the movie did a death fake out with a black guy as well. Are you telling me if they went ahead and killed him, that'd be "problematic"?

4) yeah, how dare this story take one side in the conflict. Never mind the movie also takes a side. It's a side I agree with.

@FinnishDude - Personally, while the Civil War film was pretty good, the parts they adapted were terrible. The airport fight felt like a f*ckin water pistol fight, they were bantering throughout, people didn't seem to be taking it that seriously. And to top it all off, what were they even fighting over. They couldn't seem to agree. Was it superhero registration? Or was it Cap's association with Bucky? Or both?

Either way, everybody seemed to just forget about supehero registration afterwards anyway, so there didn't seem to be much point.

I will be very suprised, if this will actually end with OMD erased. Don't get me wrong, I would love it, but Marvel has basically made a habit of teasing fans with it and then pulling the rug under them.
dracula
dracula - 9/23/2021, 12:58 PM
@FinnishDude - id say the most people can hope for is them getting remarried without undoing the actual deal and time changes
storyteller
storyteller - 9/23/2021, 1:28 PM
@dracula - Is there any point to undo OMD now. It's been almost 15 years with tons of stories in between. Some really good stories. Like you said, Peter and Mj can just get remarried.

OMD was terrible but BND started some very strong storylines. The weak stuff honestly has nothing to do with OMD unless it's tied directly into OMD.

It's officially nonsense in canon. Thank you!

@JFerguson - %1000 confirmed! He uses the word “sights” as in Vision…as in the MCU’s Vision. Therefore he’s telling us he will possess the Vision in Doctor Strange 2! Tell everyone!!
