Thor's movies may not be the highest grossing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but they're still extremely successful and have turned Australian actor Chris Hemsworth into an A-List star. Following a critically acclaimed performance in Rush, Hemsworth also has Blackhat, In the Heart of the Sea and rumoured appearances in The Huntsman and Doc Savage in his future. For now though, he'll be busy playing Thor at least twice more over the next few years, and has been given the prestigious title of "Sexiest Man Alive" by People Magazine. Odin would be proud...probably!

As I recall, Joss Whedon stumped for Chris Hemsworth to Marvel after they worked together on Cabin In The Woods. I'm sure he was already on their casting radar, but Joss said something like "He already knows what it feels like to be a god every time he looks in the mirror." I'd bet a recommendation from the guy they were hiring for Avengers carried some weight.

I didn't think Hemsworth was up to the task; thought he was too young; but I was wrong. The Thor movies have problems, but he's pretty good in a difficult role.
