can't wait to see the hulk & thanos go at it on the big screen & it looks likely it'll happen before darkseid makes his big screen debut.

thanos should beat the hulk in this story but it might be different if he goes "kluh" on his ass.

@AlexanderLykins Marvel took the best of Darkseid and improved upon him to create a multi-faceted deep character, that's not just a 'hur dur' warlord (cough Darkseid), THANOS.

@AlexanderLykins Hell man, I'll go as far as to say most of the characters Marvel has created that have been inspired by DC (Darkseid, Deathstroke, etc.) have been improved upon substantially from their predecessors.

"Thanos is at least creative."

Not really. It's derived from Thanotos, who was the personification of the death in Greek mythology. You're honestly calling "Darkseid" a silly name. These are comic books were talking about. Mostly everything in comics are silly. Galactus is a silly name. Magneto is a silly name. Dr. Doom is a silly name. It's called suspension of disbelief.

"Marvel took the best of Darkseid and improved upon him to create a multi-faceted deep character, that's not just a 'hur dur' warlord (cough Darkseid), THANOS."

And I could easily call Thanos nothing more than a lovesick puppy. And how exactly is Darkseid one-dimensional? Have you actually read a comic or have seen a episode of Superman: TAS?

@CaptainObvious

I've read loads of Darkseid central stories, and all of them involve his need for power to rule and basically capitalize cosmic real estate. I've also the Justice League animated show in its entirety. I haven't seen all of Superman: TAS but I have seen that episode along with a couple with Grodd, and it didn't change my opinion on him at all. He's complex in some ways, yes, but he's not that difficult to figure out, and his motivations are very basic.

Thanos is infatuated with the personification of Death itself, which has loads of symbolism. His entire origin story is one giant mind [frick] after another layering him as one of the most multi-faceted characters in Marvel history.

The fact that he seeks all of these powerful runes constantly, without even caring about power, but just to outwit everyone, while leveling the playing field constantly, and being responsible for his own demise subconsciously, just so he can have fun doing it all over again, is more philosophical than any story Darkseid has been a part of. Thanos, at his best, is a masterclass villain of Shakespearean proportions, with constantly evolving motivations that are, each, more puzzling than the last.

In early, scratch that, very early, incarnations he was comedic, but ever since then he's been a masterclass villain on a level much higher than Darkseid.
