The recent release of Avengers #17 marks the final issue for Marvel veteran John Romita Jr.

Joined by writer Brian Michael Bendis, Romita began on the series during its relaunch earlier last year. The pair reformed the classic Avengers lineup with the much anticipated reunion of Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America, which hadn't been achieved since Avengers: Disassembled.

David Acuna will be filling in as the series's new illustrator. He's best known for his clean, fluid work on X-Men: Legacy. Acuna's style is a sharp contrast to Romita's hatch-marked, nostalgic art.

Even though Romita Jr. is leaving the series, Bendis will remain on board. When questioned about the addition of Acuna to his creative team, Bendis had this to say:

Every time Daniel and I have worked together it has been a really fantastic experience and everyone loved it. The only thing we have never done before is hunker down and make a real run of things together. So here we go!

Check out Bendis and Acuna next month in Avengers #18. The story will pick up right after the conclusion of Fear Itself.
