COMICS: Fifth ALL-NEW X-MEN #1 Excerpt Features A Young Cyclops And Beast

In the fifth (and presumably final) excerpt from this November's All-New X-Men #1, we're clearly back in the past as a young Scott Summers and Hank McCoy argue about the latter leaving the First Class team of mutants. "I'm resigning from the X-Men..."

This is the first time we've been treated to a glimpse of the younger team, but it's particularly interesting to note that writer Brian Michael Bendis refers to the present day Scott Summers as a, "revolutionary". Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

Page 19:
1- Hank turns and looks his friend right in the eye. He is at his wit's end.
Scott is calm and friendly. This is boy scout Scott. He could not be further from revolutionary Scott.
Bobby shrugs.
THE BEAST
I know EXACTLY what I'm saying, Scott.
CYCLOPS
But your training.
THE BEAST
I think- yes. I'm resigning from the X-Men.

Brian Michael Bendis? Kiss your favorite characters goodbye. Bendis is the worst writer for team comics.

@TankD

When they go back it will probably start a new dimension that takes place right where they left off, therefore not affecting 616. Forge has said that ANYtime you time travel to affect the past or present you don't actually change your own, but simply create a new one. Though this contradicts many story lines in the MCU. Supposedly the only way to time travel and stay in your own dimension is with a specific tool that Dr. Doom has.

Example: Kate Pryde came from Days of Future Past timeline to prevent something. She was successful but when she went back nothing had. This falls under Forge's theory.

Soooo........yeah, all that stuff.

Sorry, but I'm a major Brian Michael Bendis fan. He knows what he did wrong with Avengers, and that he can't just destroy the whole team when they're brought. He knows how to give the characters humanity. I like that he acknowledges old Cyclops as "boyscout Scott." It's not just the fans who see the difference.

Oh boy, let's go back to boy scout Scott, the boring piece of cardboard that no one likes. God forbid a character become three dimensional enough to change the status quo. Bendis is nearly as bad as Loeb.
