A CGC 9.4 grade copy of Journey Into Mystery #83 has raised $222,200 at a sale by Pedigree Comics earlier this week. As you may already know, Thor was introduced in this 1962 comic book in a story entitled "The Stone Men From Saturn", and was created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott. The book was eventually retitled THOR in 1966 as the popularity of the character increased.

You might want to check your attic's as two other CGC 9.4 copies are known to be in circulation as is a CGC 9.6 issue. Last October saw a CGC 9.2 copy sell for $100,000, and Doug Schmell of Pedigree Comics had this to say about the sale: "The book is characterised by unbelievable colour strike, perfect centring, tight staples, razor sharp corners and phenomenal white pages. It is easily the second nicest existing copy and it comes from the best known run of Journey Into Mystery."
