COMICS: First Clues About Cap's New Villainous Status Quo In CAPTAIN AMERICA: STEVE ROGERS #2 Preview

Captain America: Steve Rogers #1 caused shockwaves when Cap was revealed to be a secret agent of HYDRA, but this first look at the second issue hints at there being more to this than meets the eye...

To call Captain America: Steve Rogers #1 controversial would be an understatement. That final page reveal led to death threats, countless think pieces, and a general sense of outrage among comic book fandom. Does this preview of the second instalment of the new series clear things up? Well, in what appears to be a flashback, we see Cap taking down a Cosmic Cube wielding Red Skull, destroying the powerful artefact with his shield and possibly unleashing something sinister in the process.

Could this be the moment he was infected with something which would years later turn him evil? That remains to be seen, but Marvel has previously said that it will clear things up, so we'll have to wait and see. The synopsis for the issue isn't much help either, as it says only: "As Steve battles a resurgent Hydra more dangerous than ever before, he must confront a ghost from his past!" Thoughts?

So the Red Skull used the Cosmic Cube to change Steve? I don't know much about Cap's recent history, so that could be really wrong.
