cool that Captain marvel is finally back after Thanos overkilled him so long ago!I wonder whats next for Mar-Val after this?

Mar-Vell died of cancer. The bland and watery look isnt from the pencil art. It's the colors that make this look bland. I agree, they need to liven it up.

and for what it's worth: I don't believe for one minute that is truly Mar-Vell. His body is still in it's crypt no doubt.

This is confusing as hell, it isn't lining up with The Avengers. In Secret, they make it to Hala and The Protector didn't betray them on his own, he's just helping Mar Vell, but in the Avengers they're still in space when Protector takes the Phoenix sample at gun point and bails while they're still in space.

Can someone help me out with this?
