Finally, man. I've been waiting even though I only got to read one issue of the run so far.

@Superior
They've basically spelled out who she is very, very obviously in the book, so I'm 99% sure I know her identity.

@staypuffed who is she? i don't want to buy this book.

Is she going to take the helmet off and tell us we all got "wilding'd"

I just did some research on it and I think I know who you're talking about. If that is her, then, yeah, they were very obvious with it.

Who do you think it is? I haven't read the comic yet because I'm not too interested in it overall, but would like to know who it is.

I'm still waiting for an explanation as to why her name is "Thor" too.

I mean, female Thor? Awesome.

But...why (unless parallel universe or something) is she called Thor?

Isn't "Thor" a name, not a title?

I'm sorry, but I still think that's kind of stupid. They could have given her a different name, AND still had their big reveal this issue.

Just being able to wield Mjolnir is cool enough on its own.

You didn't have to bring identity theft into this too lady!! :P

I wish the Destroyer battle in the first Thor film was like this. Damn you Marvel for shitting on my favorite Avenger.

@cinemahero, I think Thor is a title. Doesn't it say on Mjolnir, "whoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor"?
staypuffed
staypuffed - 5/8/2015, 6:00 PM
@CinemaHero
This wasn't identity theft. The original Thor was initially outraged that someone had stolen his hammer and his name, but after fighting her in combat and understanding the sort of person she was, he willing gave her the name of Thor, since she was truly worthy. He, himself, reverted to the less-worthy name Odinson.

Ah, okay thanks.

I haven't been reading this series, so I didn't know about that.
It's cool that he did willing give up his name.
At least it was explained...still seems kinda unnecessary to me personally though.

I've still got the unsettling feeling that this is all a publicity stunt, (And by that, I mean that once the buzz dies down, we'll revert back to the status quo and basically be right back where we started storywise. :/ )

But if we get a cool new character out of it, and good, fresh storylines, I can get over my nit-picks. :P

"once the buzz dies down, we'll revert back to the status quo and basically be right back where we started storywise."

I understand what you're trying to say... but that's what happens with just about every change in comic books. Nearly everything reverts back to what it was before. The original Thor will wield Mjolnir again, no doubt about it... but this has been a great story so far, and I hope this Thor sticks around in some capacity (I think she'll give the hammer back either during or after Secret Wars, and get her own superhero identity).

You know, now that you mention it...yeah. :P

If you really do recommend the story though, I might just have to pick it up sometime.
After all, it has grabbed my attention around here more than once!

It's definitely worth a read. I was a fan of the concept since it was announced, and it's mostly been really great. If nothing else, check it out for the art alone. Russell Dauterman does incredible work each and every issue. I hope his career skyrockets after this.

@Jgreiner The power of Thor is just that, the power of Thor, not his birth given name.

This run has been awesome! I wasn't sure about lady Thor at first but each issue has been great. And it still deals with the original Thor and lady Thor. Can't wait for this book.

@MFDOOM - i just think thats TOO obvious. I believe its not anyone we would except....although she is in my guess list...my guesses have been Crystal (inhumans), Roz, and (after reading someone's theory online) that Annabel chick that Valkyrie killed and then shared her body with (somehow)....idk

Did none of you guys actually read the pages?
It's Freyja! Thor's mom!
Talk about a Milf. Sheesh.

What I don't get is why they are seemingly still publishing comics set in the now dead Marvel Universe.

RIP 616.

SuperSomething616 - 5/9/2015, 5:44 AM
@ RextheKing - ermmmm no you're wrong...his given birth name is Thor Odinson...he is the child of the all father and Gaea the earth goddess...he possesses the magical fortitude to control the lightning and the storm (and the earth)...the power contained within Mjolnir is not Mjolnirs it is Thor's!

Even without Mjolnir Thor can still command the lightning and the storm (to a degree, Mjolnir helps him focus his power) it is Odins enchantment on Mjolnir that allows others who are deemed worthy to lift it to gain Thors power...also Thor in a previous issue accepted this pretender as a worthy successor and gave his name to her...Marvels way of trying to make it ok to call her Thor...(which is stupid)....

KalElOdinson
KalElOdinson - 5/9/2015, 5:59 AM
Its not Thor's mother if you all have been reading this series. In one of the earlier books she kissed the Thor and said she is not his mother. We still havent seen Amora since this has all been going on and remember her and Loki didn't revert after the inversion in Axis.
KalElOdinson
KalElOdinson - 5/9/2015, 6:07 AM
@SuperSomething616 I agree with you whole heartedly. "The Power of Thor" means you possess The power of Thor not that you are "Thor". I know they always change things and it always eventually changes back but for me Since Thor is my favorite character it feels cheap that he just gives his name away.

@ KalElOdinson - yeh man I totally am with you there...I have all of thors adventures going back to 99....I was really enjoying Thor: God of Thunder and then they did this...I swore I would not purchase this run or another Thor comic until the real Thor reclaimed Mjolnir (as Thor is my favourite as well) and I have remained true to that word...

He's my favourite because I'm descended from Norse men, Vikings, and I have a real interest in the religion and mythology of the Aesir...and to me to is just a farce...

He'll be back once Thor: Ragnarok is on...the comics are slave to the films now...but this whole female Thor is just ridiculous...
