Be sure to click the link below to find out what Young had to say to MTV about the series. Rocket Raccoon #1 hits shelves July 2.

As defenders of the cosmos go, Rocket Raccoon has faced his fair share of galactic battles. He's been a hero to the weak, a champion of good, a protector of the innocent, a heartthrob to the many intergalactic female species and now--a raccoon on the run?! ( I'm sorry, I'm sorry, a "formidable-and-expert-Guardian" on the run. Rocket is NOT a raccoon, okay?) Rocket's high-flying life of adventure and heroism may soon be a thing of the past when he becomes a wanted man--and the authorities are not the only one on his TAIL! (We'll definitely be overusing that pun!) Superstar creator Skottie Young brings his A-game as writer and artist on the series we've been waiting decades for.

I have a feeling they are going to make him a deadpool-esque character... Not felling it. may have to pass.

Skottie Young and Rocket Raccoon FTW. His art style is only good for unrealistic, cartoonish, characters so this is pure genius...

Marvel is going to shove RR down our throats just like they did Iron Man.

I find the character utterly ridiculous, might as well make Howard the Duck an Avenger in the next movie and be done with if that's the way MARVEL want to go.

My son's Scholastic school book fair was selling a GOTG book. Had the cover of the first issue of the current run, and featured adaptations of the AVENGERS: EARTH'S MIGHTIEST HEROES "Michael Korvac" episode, ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN's "GOTG" episode, and (I believe) a classic Hulk with Rocket Raccoon comic.

Marvel / Disney sure knows how to get the awareness out there.

ugh! Yes...I can't wait till this characters stock goes up exponentially. I got 2 Limited Edition Rocket Raccoon Plush Toys with numbered Skottie Young Lithos from NYcomiccon from last year. When Everyone and their Grandma knows who RR is, I wanna see how high the price will get for these babies :)

And the whoring begins once again...

I'd be more upset if it wasnt a coloring book. Enjoy the designs as variant covers but I have no interest in buying a MAD Magazine or anything else thats this grating to the eyes.

Dear Marvel,
Please, please, please. No more Skottie Young. Send him back to Oz please.
Thank you.

Your such a douche bag.
Your opinion of Rocket being ridiculous is useless,as are you.
All this is based on the ridiculous..it's comic book based fool!

This is proof positive that there's hope for those who have a favorite character that seems to be destined to never see the light of day again. 10 years ago would anyone have believed that Bucky and Rocket Raccoon would become fan favorites or that they would be headlining movies? So for you fans of Stingray,3D Man, Captain Ultra, Triumph, Aztek, or Takion you may have your day yet. For me, I await the return of Sleepwalker.

I suggest you go pick up Rocket's original miniseries.

Why?

I dig his covers, but I'm not sure if I can take a whole issue with his style.

Rocket should be more than capable of holding his own series, though.
