COMICS: Marvel Announce New Scott Lang ANT-MAN Series And HAWKEYE Ongoing
Marvel have announced that a new Ant-Man series from Nick Spencer and Ramon Rosanas will launch next year which puts the spotlight on Scott Lang. Meanwhile, Hawkeye is also getting another ongoing from Green Arrow writer Jeff Lemire and Ramón Pérez. Check it out!
Seeing as he'll star in his own movie next year, it should perhaps come as no surprise to learn that Scott Lang is about to get his own ongoing series. ComicBook.com don't have much in the way of details, though the Superior Iron Man apparently plays a role, meaning this series may also be set in San Francisco. That's the same place as Daredevil (Marvel's heroes are finally leaving New York!) and also as the upcoming big screen Ant-Man adaptation from Peyton Reed. Writer Nick Spencer is quoted as telling the site, "We've got a real, legitimate shot at making Scott Lang the A-list character he's always deserved to be. The big Marvel marketing machine is going to be out there promoting all things Ant-Man in 2015 and that will only help our book. I'm excited."
Meanwhile, with Matt Fraction and David Aja's Hawkeye series wrapping up, a new one is on the way from the writer credited with the best Green Arrow run in some time over at DC Comics, something Jeff Lemire was quick to acknowledge to CBR. "It is funny that I go from writing "Green Arrow" at DC to "Hawkeye" at Marvel. I don't think anyone has ever done that before but it really was a coincidence. I'm not a big archery nut. [Laughs] But honestly, the fact that they're both archers is kind of superficial. The characters are completely and utterly different. And the tones of the books couldn't be more different too. What I did with "Green Arrow," which I'm pretty proud of, is totally different from this in terms of tone and approach. And fundamentally, they are extremely different characters. They're almost polar opposites." It's said to be a follow-up of sorts to Fraction's critically acclaimed work, with Kate Bishop playing an integral role.
