I really never thought I'd see the day Marvel revisited the New Universe. For those a little younger than my decrepit self, the imprint ran from 1986 to 1989 and focused on a more real-world group of characters. It was never really considered a success, but some of the comics were pretty damn good, particularly Jim Shooter's Star Brand, who appears to be making his presence felt on the cover to Avengers #9 below.
“NEW UNIVERSE”
• Watch as the most dangerous weapon in the Universe is unleashed.
• Two Universal SYSTEMS collide.
• What good is a White Event if only leads to the destruction of the planet it was meant to transform?
Will this spin off once again into an entirely new Marvel imprint? Or will it be contained within the pages of Marvel NOW! as a kind of an alternate universe that exists within the main continuity? Only time will tell.
