COMICS: One Of The SPIDER-MEN Revealed In New Teaser

Thanks to CBR we now know the identity of one out of two of the Spider-Men from the upcoming series by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli. You'll never guess who it is!..

Okay, maybe you did guess. It's good ol regular 616 Peter Parker..

Now while this probably doesn't come as much of a surprise, it does eliminate one possible "Spidey" combo. Many have speculated that this series would mark the resurrection of the Ultimate version of Peter Parker, and while there is still the possibility that the right silhouette will turn out to be him, it is much more likely that it will be Miles Morales, thus confirming the rumor of an unprecedented Ultimate/616 cross-over. Expect all to be revealed pretty soon anyway.

This June - history will be made for the Marvel Universe.

Betting Miles as he is Bendis's favoured creation at the moment

Yes, but what Spiderman? Therein lies the mystery!

@dellamorte1872 That silhouette is definitely not Miguel's though... :( I wish it was. I'd love to see Spidey 2099 make a come back. The single best thing to come out of the 2099 imprint.

If their sizes are supposed to be accurate, wouldn't Miles be smaller.

I do believe someone working on Ultimate Marvel was questioned about ever having an Ultimate/616 crossover. The person in question said something along the lines of "No. That's a tired type of idea that's been done to death. It won't happen."

@Soundwave - something along those lines has been said before, and I quote -

"It's very easy to un-marry a character, or fix something like that: you just do a huge universal retcon, and say a few events in history didn't happen. But that's really not the way we do it here at Marvel." - Joe Quesada

Actually they said that if they ever did a 616/ultimate crossover that would be marvel completely out of ideas.

I'm down for it, but I clearly remember

'Joe Quesada has reiterated his earlier claim that the two universes will not cross over as that would signify that Marvel had "officially run out of ideas".'

idk, the kid was just introduced. seems a little soon to thrown him into a crossover.

Well, there is also this..

During the Next Big Thing panel at WonderCon 2012, Marvel Director of Communications Arune Singh addressed the project, saying, "People have made some educated guesses based on the logos we've shown."

Not near a confirmation, but most guesses have been that it's Morales. I'd be very surprised if it isn't myself.

Hrm, I wonder if the color choice was intentional. If so, this is an early Spidey (like Ditko era) -- or if they went with black so it'd fit better with Ult Spidey's costume.

It better be a grown-up Miles Morales. More chance of there being a Donald Glover Spider-Man (Or Childish Gambino Spider-Man, your choice)

I kinda doubt that this is the main-Marvel Universe Peter Parker. My inclination is to believe that this is the Ultimate Peter Parker, especially since the original teaser we received was of two spiders cut in half and stuck together. The bigger of the spiders was that of the original Ultimate Spider-Man's logo, based on Mark Bagley's design.

IT'S MORALES...HE NEEDS COACHING AND WHAT FROM OUR 616 SPIDEY. RESURRECTING ULTIMATE SPIDERMAN PARKER, LETS HAVE A ALTERNATE UNIVERSE WHERE CHARACTERS STAY DEAD.

ummm am i kinda whish they wouldnt treat miles morales as the only biracial spider man. ever. Miguel O'Hara was mexican and irish. woulda kinda liked it more if he was the new ult. spider cause so far of what ive read they depict miles as black. but n/e way itll end up being miles. no queastion there.

I agree with MovieTheaterLad. The Ultimate CA is not a Facist, he fought the Facists in WW2. I see this incarnation as more nationalist, and a bit bigoted as well but not facist.

Contrary to what most people think, the Nazis were ardent socialists (Nazi roughly translated mean National Socialist workers party).

@irondragon

While I agree with your statement, I think that Miles is being handled more as a person than as a specific race, the only real thing they did was make the prowler super black, especially in issue 8, they were throwing a lot of ain'ts and slang around, I thought that was annoying, but all in all, Miles just seems like a kid.

Hey Ultimate Marvel is an awesome idea, its just been hard to wash out the stains left by Jeph Loeb. I prefer that universe to the compressed/semi-rebooted/dual timeline crap that DC pulled, there are some good books but damn its confusing - all because of bloody Superman!

I actually wonder how much Ultimates influence Avengers will have.
gdarmo
gdarmo - 3/27/2012, 11:48 AM
@breakUbatman - Marvel have always stated that their movie universe is a combination of 616 and Ultimate versions of the characters

As for the other Spidey, could this be an introduction of a 616 version Miles Morales? I would prefer that. The Ultimate and 616 universes shouldn't collide

As far as the whole Ultimate Cap argument going on, I'm gonna wade in and say that Ultimate Cap is in no way a fascist. They just tried to really emphasise the aspect that he's from the 40's. 'Course, by today's standards, that makes him an ultra-conservative, somewhat racist, crotchetty old man.

So basically if Gusto was a superhero.

But anyways, as much as I'm hoping that this isn't Miles Morales, it almost certainly is. Most people aren't fans of his at all, so what better way to give him a boost than by having 616 Spidey team up with him and endorse him?

The sane thing to do would have been to never kill off the real Ultimate Spidey in the first place, but, too late now. Now they need classic Spidey to come in and try to clean up the mess.
