COMICS: SPOILER ALERT! How Did WOLVERINE Die Today? Find Out Here!

Today saw the release of Charles Soule and Steve McNiven's Death of Wolverine #4, and yes, the issue did indeed see the fan-favourite X-Man meet his maker. How did it all go down? You can find out right here, but be warned, there obviously major spoilers for the issue ahead...

So, Wolverine is dead! We're not going to go into great detail here about how the issue played out as you'll need to pick up the comic book itself in order to enjoy this superb finale to the Death of Wolverine, but here's how poor old Logan met his maker. After confronting the villainous Dr. Cornelius, Wolverine learns that the scientist who bonded the unbreakable adamantium to his skeleton has spent years dperforming grotesque and painful experiments on people in a bid to turn them into the mindless weapon that James Howlett refused to be when Weapon X captured him.

As Cornelius starts the process to bond Adamantim to these poor people, Wolverine performs one final heroic act and unsheathes his claws to slash the entire depository of the metal, covering himself in the process. In his final moments (after saving the people who were being experimented on rather than himself) Logan stalks after the villain, gives him his just desserts and overlooks the Nevada dessert in his final moments as the sun sets and the Adamantuim hardens.

The whole issue makes for a powerful and moving read, and with no healing factor, this appears to be a very definitive end for Wolverine. Of course, you have to imagine that Marvel will be able to bring him back by having him regain that power somehow and escaping from this tomb...right?! Perhaps not, as how could he ever break out? It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out and whether anyone discovers his body, and we have to recommend picking up Death of Wolverine #4 itself to see how this all played out in context. What do you guys think?

Seriously great run but it comes off more as a Wolverine retrospective then his final appearance.

Tell him that X-Men: Origins is get a theatrical re-release, that'll send anybody running to the hills, adamantium drenched or not.

So basically Han being encased in Carbonite? A revival could be made easily, but it will also keep him 'dead' for as long as they need.

r..i..g..h..t...... So, he's not dead, he's encased in adamantium.

God, I am glad it is over. I [frick]ing can't stand Wolverine. Worst character in comics. I hope he is gone for good.

Damn I will admit that actually is a great way to go out if he were to stay dead. Of course we all know he won't stay dead and it has been that way since Superman came back after Death of Superman. You still have to admit that is a pretty good way to go out as a hero.

"WE'RE NOT GOING TO GO INTO DETAIL"

THEN WHAT DO YOU CALL EXPLAINING THE ENTIRE ENDING IN TYPE, AND THEN DISPLAYING THE PAGES THEMSELVES TO VISUALLY SEE?

COULDN'T HAVE GIVEN ANY more DETAIL, HONESTLY.

didn't he die in an explosion of some kind in the Ultimates universe?

The 12 issue 120 variant covers of The Return of Wolverine will be scheduled for January, just enough time for them to sell 100 million copies of all the variant covers and special limited editions of the Death of Wolverine issues.

The moments leading up to the final page was very symbolic.

I'm glad it wasn't in a brutal way like I thought it was gonna be.

And I like how Tooth, X, Daken, Mystique and Deathstrike is all together in Legacy. It would be interesting if the masked guy ends up being Deadpool

@DatScarletPimPerNeLL Magneto made Cyclops blast him to nothing in Ultimate Universe (thats how he died). All that was left was the forearm sticking out of Mag's gut.

@RobertLiefeld
He is hardly the WORST character. I could think of a few who are far more annoying: Nurse Annie, Harvest, Phil Coulson, Frank Miller!Batman, Superboy Prime, Dr. Hurt, Youngblood during the Liefeld years, etc.
TelaVizion
TelaVizion - 10/15/2014, 4:46 PM
Its bad enough he's dead in Ultimate Universe, and some of you want him dead in 616. The Marvel Universe will suffer without the real Wolverine for the time he's away.
