Marvel has released the variant cover for Spider-Men #4, the fourth issue in the five-issue mini-series which sees the Ultimate and 616 Spider-Men cross over. The cover below is drawn by Mike Deodato (New Avengers). With the series beginning in June, Spider-Men #4 will be released this August. Be sure to share your thoughts below in the usual place.

This June, it’s time for Peter Parker, better known as the Amazing Spider-Man, to cross worlds and meet Miles Morales…the all-new Spider-Man? Marvel is proud to announce Spider-Men, an all-new five issue landmark story from award-winning author Brian Michael Bendis, Sara Pichelli and cover artist Jim Cheung, which brings Peter Parker and Miles Morales together for the first time. That’s right, the Spider-Men from two different realities — the Marvel Universe and Ultimate Comics Universe — bring their worlds together for a battle no one web-head could win!

When Spider-Man tracks down one of his deadliest villains, he suddenly finds himself thrust into another world where Peter Parker is dead…and there’s a new Spider-Man in town. As these two heroes learn the truth about their identities and their universes, they’ll embark on a journey that’ll leave them forever changed—and reveal a startling truth about a key player in the Spider-Man mythos!

Man, I guess I'm in the minority here, but every one of these variant covers looks half finished to me. Not even remotely a fan.

Just started reading Ultimate Universe about a month ago and read all X-Men, Ultimates, all the events, and most Spider-Man, including Miles. Gotta say, I don't know what all the hate is for Ultimate, I freaking love it.

Is it just me or do alot of these covers come off as "Brokeback Spidey"?

@TankD, the kid is like 13. give him a break. it's slow paced, but i like the fact that they're taking their time. i wouldn't want this new kid to pop up and be just as good as peter in 5 issues. miles hasn't really faced any serious tests yet, but i can tell things are going to get tougher.

@TankD I’ll agree with that. Miles is an interesting character, but with no webs and, apparently, no real spider-sense, he’s starting to get lame. Bendis messed up by killing Pete and now is trying to atone for that. Bet this comic outlines the mentor / student dynamic that Miles doesn’t get in his own comic, and that it will cross back over into Ultimate, where Miles, after having “studied” under Parker, is now the real deal. Or something.
