DAREDEVIL #25 Sees Elektra Take On A Surprising New Role In The Marvel Comics Universe - SPOILERS

With the Man Without Fear back behind bars, there's been quite the shift in direction in Daredevil #25, and Elektra just took on a surprising new role in the Marvel Universe! Read on for further details...

Matt Murdock is a character who has been through a lot of major status quo changes over the years, but he's now back behind bars and forced to again rely on his allies to protect Hell's Kitchen.

In today's Daredevil #25 from writer Zdarsky and artists Marco Checchetto and Marcio Menyz, Elektra visits Matt in his prison cell and tells him that she's been working with Stick to slow the spread of the Hand. Revealing that she's found a way to defeat the villainous group of ninjas once and for all, Elektra tells her former lover that they need to form their own group, the Fist, with a "king and queen" in charge.

Daredevil refuses to break out of prison, but tells Elektra that if she hopes to win him over, the former assassin must prove that she's serious about helping the world. How better to do that than by taking on the Daredevil mantle to protect Hell's Kitchen? As you can see below, that's exactly what she does!

It's a cool idea, and a first in the comic books. While Spider-Man and Iron Fist have donned Matt's costume, they were impersonating the original when they did so. Elektra, however, will be a completely new version of Daredevil, but with Stick later telling her that only the King or Queen of the Fist can ultimately survive, it's clear she's still keeping some secrets from Matt...

Check out the Elektra reveal below (via Games Radar):

nice costume, but whats the point of the scarf (or whatever you'd call that), if you are going to have a mask, might as well go with the full thing, like Spiderman and Cassandra Cain

@dracula - that scarf over the face is probably a representation of what’s going on in the real world today.

Or am I looking too much into the scarf and it’s just a costume choice,

@dracula - I might be reading into things too much, but I'm thinking maybe as a nod to her past as a Hand assassin?

@JoeInTheBox - this

Elektra also made the scarf her own thing in her solo series not long ago too

@BlackBeltJones - Totally. I think the outfit was designed to incorporate elements of her past roles.

@WruceBayne - maybe more of a fashion choice. She was looking in the mirror thinking “there’s just something missing...oh wait. A scarf!” I mean, these things don’t just come together accidentally.

@dragon316 - Most heroes haven't gone to jail, what are you talking about?

Just finished reading it this morning.

Zdarsky has been KILLING IT. Love this run so far. Matt going to prison this time has a entirely different significance than the times he has gone before. He is entering prison as Daredevil and not Matt. Also, his confession accentuates his proud commitment to justice and that idea that no one is above the law, not even him. He's setting a new foundation for other vigilantes.

@BlackBeltJones - Did he hire Chameleon or Mystique to stand-in as Matt Murdock for him?

The costume is fantastic, I hope a variation of it sticks around once Matt is free. I wonder why she has white lenses over the red ones, aside from it just looking cooler here. I love that he’s in jail as Daredevil, with an orange mask to match, it’s dumb in a great comic way.
