He recovered the Ark of the Covenant. He secured the Holy Grail. Now, famed archaeologist Indiana Jones sets his sights on some of the most powerful items found in the Marvel Universe in all-new Indiana Jones "Marvel Artefacts" variant covers.
Across five awesome covers by superstar artists Carmen Carnero, Marco Checchetto, Sara Pichelli, Mahmud Asrar, and Iban Coello, Indy goes artefact hunting for some of Marvel's most legendary items, including the Infinity Gauntlet famously wielded by Thanos, Thor's hammer Mjolnir, the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak that granted Juggernaut his power, Knull's All-Black the Necrosword, and even Doctor Doom's iconic iron mask.
Marvel Comics is also reprinting the character's beloved 1980s comic book sagas across two deluxe hardcover collections: Indiana Jones: The Further Adventures Book I and Indiana Jones: The Further Adventures Book II.
On sale next month, the collections feature the comic adaptations of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, along with the complete run of The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones. A facsimile edition of The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones #1 by John Byrne and Terry Austin will also be available in November.
Marking the first time Indiana Jones and his quest for powerful relics have been seen through the lens of the Marvel mythos, the Indiana Jones "Marvel Artefacts" variant covers celebrate Marvel Comics' new era of Indiana Jones adventures, kicking off in February with Indiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium by Jason Aaron and Aaron Kuder, an all-new saga set after Raiders of the Lost Ark.
"I’ve wanted to adventure alongside Indiana Jones since I was 8 years old, to climb through ancient crypts and run for my life in exotic locales, to seek the world’s most fabled treasures," Aaron previously said. "Now here I am, feeling the same sort of joy I felt in 2015, when we launched Star Wars #1. This is the Indy of Raiders of the Lost Ark, fresh off his harrowing experience on the island of Geheimhaven."
"Dark events were set in motion that day; strange new enemies have risen from the shadows, and for Indy and Marion Ravenwood, the globe-trotting, punching, whip-cracking, and death-defying escapades, not to mention the archaeology, have just begun," the writer added.
