"As far as event books go, this is the coolest, darkest, most heavy metal, Cthulhu dark horror thing I’ve ever been able to do," promises Cates. "I still can’t believe that Marvel is letting us go as dark and scary as we’re going."

"One of the things I’m most proud of in this series… is the creation of the character Knull," Stegman says. "We have some new designs that we’ll be unveiling throughout the series that are really cool and really creepy."

The added mythology of Knull and why symbiotes have an aversion to sound and heat was interesting, however, some of the retconning was forced and doesn’t fit well. Eddie Brock remains a weak point.

@DR3D - completely disagree. This is by far the most character development Eddie has ever had. I have a feeling you didnt actually read it. Like all the trolls on this whack site.

@Makiveli21 - I’m still reading it, and I grew it is the most they have developed a paper thin character like Brock, but I find him the least interesting part, jus because my opinion is different from yours doesn’t mean it’s any less.

>More Metal-esque bullshit.

Why God...why???

Is it just me or does this Knull character suddenly looks like the Batman who keks? I don't remember him having that big ass smile...

But apparently this shit really sells so i can't really blame em to cash on it...

The comicbook industry has been in a shitty situation for quite some time, Marvel in particular tried to cover up everything with tons of relaunches by slapping a "#1" on the cover, not to mention hundreds of variant covers and of course...nowdays you have like 3 or 4 event going together not just back to back.

We have yet to read the first issue of Empyre but we can already expect X of Swords, this Metal Knull shit and probably a mutant event in the fall.

But pretty much the same shit has been happenin at DC as well, there was a time when you had like...Event Leviathan, more of that Scott Snyder Metal bullshit or was it with JL? Like Year of the Villain/Secret Six/The Infected?
Well whatever Snyder was shitting back then + Heroes in Crisis and of course...Doomsday Clock.

Now they just have Death Metal but mainly because coronachan and Didio gettin fired hit them hard and changed their plans otherwise we'd have 5G and Rao knows what else...

The absolute state of modern comics.

@Doomsday8888 - You're overexaggerating dude. Venom, Immortal Hulk, X-Men, and Daredevil are fantastic. Cates has recently started on Thor and Ewing on Guardians so those have potential as well. I know people have complained about the Amazing Spider-Man but things seem to be ramping up with the return of Green Goblin and Kindred.

There are always going to be big comic events and yeah, a lot of them end up being bloated and unnecessary but that doesn't take away from the still great comics being published.

@Doomsday8888 - you sound bitter. Knull has ties to Thor and SILVER SURFER BLACK! Did you read Silver Surfer Black? Anything by Cates is worth my money. Period. I can't wait for Knull Vs Surfer round 2. This time in front of all the Marvel heroes. Or maybe Venoms son Dylan becomes the new Carnage literally son of Venom- he does have that piece of Carnage still... this is going to be so epic

@Doomsday8888 - Actually DC has some fantastic series right now! The Green Lantern is consistently odd/compelling, Hawkman has done a great job of coalescing all of his many origins,I personally though Leviathan was good too, so I guess if people just read the “events” i can see how they may be turned off, but those series and a bunch more are pretty Damned good! I also feel that the X books at Marvel and Immortal Hulk have been Fantastic as well

Venom
Venom:Let there be Carnage
Venom 3:Knull

Great series,up until Venom Island which was OK but with Virus coming in 26 and that mysterious looking character that looks like Knull but wears like a Hawk mask things are gonna be good leading up to the King In Black.

Dylan Brock is gonna save the day.

Why did the Symbiotes need a convoluted backstory?
