Marvel Brings Back Legendary AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Scribe J.M. DeMatteis For BEN REILLY: SPIDER-MAN Series

Ben Reilly is set to take centre stage in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man over the next few months, but Peter Parker's clone will swing into his own series in January as J.M. DeMatteis explores his past!

J.M. DeMatteis, the writer of iconic Spider-Man stories like "Kraven's Last Hunt" and "Spider-Man: The Lost Years," is finally set to make his Marvel Comics return this January with Ben Reilly: Spider-Man

The iconic Spider-Man scribe will reveal new stories in the life of Peter Parker’s clone, Ben Reilly, during his time as Spider-Man. DeMatteis will be joined by X-Factor and Domino artist David Baldeón as they unlock new secrets about this fan-favourite hero. The series will be in the same vein as Peter David and Greg Land's hit Symbiote Spider-Man series, and promises to explore thrilling new mysteries set in this classic time in Spider-Man history!

"What I’ve always found fascinating about Ben Reilly is that he’s Peter Parker, and yet he’s not," DeMatteis says. "Life has taken Ben on a strange, twisted path and altered him, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse; but, like Peter, he’s a man who’s constantly striving to do the right thing, even if he doesn’t always succeed."

"Ben is wonderfully, painfully human, immensely relatable—and our new series allows me to dive even deeper into Ben’s psyche, to explore him in new and, I hope, interesting ways. It’s been a true joy returning the Spiderverse and reuniting with my old friend, Ben," he concluded.

In Ben Reilly: Spider-Man, darkness looms over New York City as murders begin to pile up, but how are they all connected? Meanwhile, a mysterious figure from Ben’s past has crawled his way back into Ben’s life...does the Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane hold the key to their identity?

The series launches in January, while Ben takes centre stage in Amazing Spider-Man later this year!

Should’ve just kept this costume for the new series. That offcenter spidey chest logo is driving me crazy

I’ve always liked the chunky gauntlet style web shooters. It’s very 90’s but I dig it

Anyone read Fantastic Four today?

Looks like the MCU is no longer part of the Multiverse.
They have their own Sacred Timeline, run by a very different looking TVA than the one in Loki.

...I mean, you can only have one Sacred Timeline, right? Otherwise they'd call it A sacred timeline, not THE sacred timeline. So todays comic confirms it.

@GwenLantern - Think of the MCU's timeline like the Central Finite Curve from Rick & Morty. Sony's Venom/Spider movies, Fox's X-movies, the comics and what have you all exist in the multiverse, but Kang is isolating the MCU from all that.

@Reeds2Much - I just saw that episode recently and I thought the exact same thing.

But I'm also wondering if it has now reconnected with the Multiverse or if it has now spawned it's own separate multiverse. It'd be good to get some details from Marvel.

Anyone know why I can't see the image? It just shows a tiny picture image that looks like it's been ripped in half.
