Marvel is proud to announce the debut of the Marvel Comics app (powered by comiXology) on AndroidTM devices, available for download right now at www.marvel.com/marvelcomicsapp. The unparalleled Marvel Digital Comics library, featuring the world’s most popular super heroes, epic stories and day & date releases, is now available anytime, anywhere to users with an Android smartphone or tablet.

..."Android fans can rejoice that Marvel’s amazing comics are now on the Marvel Comics app and Comics by comiXology app for Android," said David Steinberger, CEO of comiXology. "We're head over heels to help Marvel bring their fantastic stories to comic consumers everywhere. Now fans can buy where they want and read where they want, and comiXology's Guided View™ sings with Marvel's creative talent!"

This came off as a surprise to me as I checked into the Android marketplace. I downloaded the app out of excitement and could not wait to use it. How well done is the layout? Is it easy enough to use? What are the prices? Some of your questions will be answered below. Click on the images to have a better visual of the pictures.

The layout looks great as the app opens up. As you see, there are three tabs available: My Comics (list of purchased comics), Featured (Comics of the day, Just Added, & Free) and Store. The layout is simple and straight forward and features the popular storylines to date. It has a great selection of comics ranging from older classics to the hottest current titles. Pricing varies from free-$10.99, that being a collection. On average, the prices of comics individually will be $1.99-$3.99+ if current.

The comic store is divided into categories Series, Creator, Most Popular (empty as of now), Free Comics and Storylines and Arcs. Everything is in alphabetical order and shouldn’t be an issue on specifically finding what you want to read.

The comic I selected was X-Men Schism #1. Details of the issue are provided along with the listing of the series. You’re also given the opportunity to have a peak into the book itself. Straight forward, you have the options to rate, buy and share the comic you selected.

As you click on the My Comics tab, it shows what you’re currently downloading or what you own. A personal library simply put.

Lastly, when you view the comic it is displayed by panel. I find this a lot easier than having a full page and zooming in. The quality isn’t degraded and you don’t miss a single thing.

I really liked the app and I know for a fact that I will be purchasing and reading comics. I have no complaints about the interface and I have not ran into any problems with the app. An account is needed in order for you to sync your current library and to make purchases.

The Marvel App is available on all Andriod and Apple platforms. What are your thoughts on digital comics? Would it be more accessible than print? Are you going to download and read digital comics on your phone, tablet or iPad? This is Mareado and thank you for having salsa with me.
