With that crappy look, the story had better be great.

OT: Well if you want to talk about "crappy" art vs. story, if any of you are Transformers Beast Wars fans (and I suspect some of you are) I'm currently reading the third (and last) volume of the short-run Beast Wars comic from IDW (I think it ran for about a year and a half). The story is actually really good (and it's NOT a rehash of the TV show, although it does borrow a few plot points here and there), but the art... Jeeze. The main artist is Josh Burcham, who is mainly a colorist but expanded into lines as well, but his style is SO, well, stylized (and not stylized like Derrick J. Wyatt's designs were for the "Transformers Animated" series) that it almost detracts from the otherwise really good story. Almost. I think what saves it is the way he's able to convey action in a very dynamic way so I don't mind it too much. So if you're a Beast Wars fan you should check it out as the story is worth it.

On a related note (even further OT) if any of you are fans of pretty much ANY incarnation of TFs, the current toy line, called "Transformers Legacy" probably has something for you there. So far in this line they've released updated version of TFs from "G1", "G2", "BW", "Armada", "Cybertron", "Energon", "Prime", and are now about to release "Animated" characters with an updated version of Animated Prowl. They also have Tarn from the IDW series coming out if you familiar with him (super badass character). Oh and Junkions. Lots and lots of Junkions coming.

Anyhow, just thought I'd share that for any fellow TF fans out there who might be interested to see if their favorite characters from ages past are getting a makeover (just got my BW Transmetals 2 Megatron a little while ago 😉).
