Simon Kinberg Hopes For a FANTASTIC FOUR & X-MEN Universe!!

Simon Kinberg recently did an interview with The Hollywood Reporter and said "he would Love to see" The Fantastic Four and X-Men in a film together.

"In the world of Marvel Studios and everything they're doing that we've been ispired by, anything is possible". Kinberg also stated, "I would say purely as a fan of comics and these film franchises, I would love to see it, but it has challenges".

He says there would be some major hurtles to overcome from a storytelling standpoint, particularly because neither franchise has acknowledged the existence of the other to date.

Having had a hand in writing X-Men: Days of Future Past and also putting pen to paper for the new Fantastic Four film currently in production. Do you guys think that there is a chance that the two franchises could team up in the near future? Do you want a cinematic universe where the X-Men and Fantastic Four co-exist?

Simon Kinberg's full interview with The Hollywood Reporter will be published this coming Monday where they will also be discussing X-Men: Days of Future Past, currently in theaters.

Well, there shouldn't be any problems after DOFP.

After Apocalypse, which is set in the 80's, they can (and should) jump forward to 2016 or whatever present year it will be when the next X-film (after Apocalypse) comes out. It'd be great if the FF film is set in the present and alludes to the X-Men, though we won't actually SEE those present X-Men until after Apocalypse.

Hopefully Scott, Jean, Storm, Gambit and Kurt are young enough in Apocalypse to be at a reasonable age in say, 2018/19 when the next X-Men movie comes out and focuses on the present.

@Jollem

What deleted scene?

@Jollem

That scene plays sometimes. I was watching FF on Showtime or something and it was there.

Also, there's a photograph in FF 1 or 2 that shows Victor shaking hands with the President from X2.

We now know that Fox can make a good CBM, now they need to prove it with the F4 film, if it is good, them I will hope they do the shared universe!

Anything is possible if the studios, producers, directors & other notable filmmakers resolve to give the fans what they want.
The fans pay good money to go see & support the films they release so GIVE US WHAT WE WANT & WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN!! Do It!

How about bringing out Fantastic Four first and seeing if people like it. Instead of now saying the X-Men and Fantastic Four might team up together. Also how would this work the X-Men takes place in the 80s now and I believe Fantastic Four will be set in this time period? Do they plan on sending X-Men into the future? I think it would be great to see them team up. Because it opens up lots of new story options. I just don't know how it's going to work.

After seeing how good DoFP was as a self-contained story, I really don't want this to happen, ever. Let the X-Men universe breathe and develop on its own. The last thing I want from this franchise is a fiasco the likes of TASM 2.

Well, I wish I shared your sentiment about the movie. Did nothing for me but disappoint.

NO NO NO NO.

It just wouldn't work. The X-Movies have been showing us the struggle of the mutants, the outcasts for so many years that we actually feel things about the characters. You introduce four heroes who get their powers from space and it makes their struggle less impactful, it makes them not "special" anymore.

Fox presents quite a realistic universe, especially lately by merging real world history into their X-Movies. The inclusion of F4 will take that away.

Shared unversed are so overrated.

Now, if GOTG does well, Fox could consider a Starjammers movie.
Only then would their universe open up to space and all that comes with it (Shi'ar Empire, F4)

WOLVERINE HAS BEEN RENDERED USELESS!!!!!!!!

Seriously, there is no huge reason why people should want to see wolverine in any future xmen movies.

Unless Mr. Fantastic developed something that could make his claws stronger.

This literally screams money grab! I hope F4 bombs straight down to Hell, Marvel gets the rights back and then we can finally see The Avengers,Guardians of the Galaxy & Silver Surfer Vs. Galactus. Now that is a movie I would love to see.

^ What Mike said

FF needs to go back to MARVEL end of, atm Fox is sorting their mistakes out doing a STAR TREK/NEW 52 wipe coz their Universe was a cluster [frick], does not need this horrible FF movie crossing over.

MEX @ everything about it is horrible?

Anyway we need Silver Surfer, Galactus, FF back at Marvel Studios, be wasted at Fox! They got a huge X-Universe to explore, pointless to even touch the FF, they already [frick]ed it up the first time.

X2 had a reference to Franklin Richards as being a mutant.
Thank fvck Kinberg's still open to this.
The only really bad thing about his FF movie, is that one of the Storms is adopted and it will not be set in the same universe as the X-Men.
But as long as he leaves room for mutants in the Fantastic Four world, in the first one, he can probably fil most of the blanks in with a sequel.
Also, what with the ending of DOFP resetting things, Mutants could go incognito for the next 40 years.
And don't forget how Xavier used to wipe humans memories of seeing mutants clean, in the old '60s comics.
