Many ultimate Spider-man fan's will be dissapointed to hear that in february 2011 one of the best comic book series....is coming to end.

“As a group and as individuals we have made a conscious effort to create stories this year that no one has ever seen before,” said Bendis. “I am very, very proud to be a part of this storyline and very proud of Marvel for even attempting such a bold endeavor. Sit back and watch as we unveil a storyline unlike any other!!”

The most successful new imprint of the century, Ultimate Comics has continually pushed the limits of super hero comics and raised the bar for comic book storytelling, with Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1 selling well over one million copies.

Millar added, “This is the biggest, boldest thing we've attempted in the ten years since we kicked this line off. This is the one thing that could be bigger than the creation of the Ultimate line and it's great to be a part of it. Being part of something like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and soon you’ll all get to read the story we’ve written for you, This should be up there with the very small number of events that really mattered. This is going to be big.”

This February, Death of Spider-Man marks the most ambitious Ultimate comics story yet…and one that no fan will ever forget!

I thought this article was going to be about the real Spider-Man and I was going to be pissed. Couldn't care less about the ultimate universe though.

Ok. Here's the deal. This is utter crap. Wanna know how I know? because A: They have another Spider-Man movie in the works so why kill him now? B: They have an Ultimate Spider-Man show coming soon. C: This is one of Marvels most successful franchises so why kill him? and D: does Marvel ever live up to there hype and promises? No. Im not bashing Marvel I mean I love them but they never live up to the hype they have created. Plus Bendis has even stated that he is gonna write the book for a long time, so calm down he is not gonna die. Its a gimmick.

@flash...Marvel released a cover page for Spider-man #654 which mentions that its the Death of Spider-man in the 616

@otherside...thats a huge gamble for Marvel. Unless they are willing to lose most if not all fan support

Ah, you've got to love Marvel's Ultimate Line. Storyline in doubt? Kill 'em. Need a new storyline? Kill 'em. Want to promote a new cross-company promotional story? Kill 'em all. I sometimes believe that the Marvel Ultimates line was just created to fulfill somebody's superhero snuff fetish.

Oh boy, here we go again! The death of the hero story line, only to be brought back via (insert choice of reserrection plot devie here)a few weeks/months later. Robin, Superman, Captain America, who did I miss? Next they will change his look completely! (and yes I understand it is only the Ultimate Spiderman)

What 'end' people?! We all KNOW Spiderman won't die (at least not for very long)! It's the oldest trick in the comic book! WHY would Marvel PERMANENTLY kill off one of their TOP money-makers, ESPECIALLY when he's got a reboot movie and a Broadway musical coming up? If they were SMART, they'd kill the musical and leave the rest of the franchise ALONE!!!!
