The Marvel Universe: AVENGERS

Going Through the Marvel Universe what would be interesting on screen, what wouldn’t work, and who should team up.

Taking the first look at the Marvel Universe you have to look at the largest point, The avengers. We obviously Already have 6 solo films and 1 team film of this group, But let’s take a closer look into them.

The original Avengers Team was Iron Man, Hulk, Ant Man, Wasp, and Thor. A slight switch from the Avengers team we have seen on screen however we are seeing Ant Man and most likely Wasp joining soon enough. Now the real question is what other Avengers should we see join? What other Villains should they take out. They already fought Loki, brother of Thor. Next up is Ultron, after that who knows? Is Joss planning Thanos for the 3rd big baddy, Will we see a repeat of a previous villain, or are we getting another major villain like Kang or Korvac. Lots of different opportunities to go through but although Villains are cool, look as if on this team people are looking for more heroes and heroine. Looking as if Dr. Strange and others are already planned on joining, let’s look at some other members that are worthy of screen time.

Ms. Marvel

Arguably the most needed female avenger (Besides Scarlet Witch who is already set for Age of Ultron), Carol is a powerhouse. One of the most powerful Avengers of all time, she has at points had the ability to control gravity its self. She has superhuman strength, endurance and can absorb/project energy, due to the fact of being part Kree essentially. Joss has been talking about wanting more female avengers and she would be a perfect addition. She has the fire power, history, and can also go cosmic if needed. The only thing holding her back? The name, people might find it just flat out cheesy to have someone named after the comic itself. They can find ways around the name by finding reasons for her to have that nick name. But the easiest way would probably be just call her Carol Danvers throughout the story. If Marvel plans on making a solo film, or just adding another avenger, Carol has to be at the top of their list.

Black Panther

In my opinion the most needed Avenger that doesn’t already have a solo film planned. T’Challa is the leader of Wakanda, the African land that exports the already established vibranium to the world. He has a vibranium suit and claws, is a major athlete and a genius. A Black Panther movie could be a little something new in this world, showing the African part of this universe. Also it could add more cultural diversity to this team. T’Challa has been a major avenger for quite some time and is more than expected to join soon enough. Especially with the ester egg found in Iron Man 2. I feel along with many others a Black Panther movie should be made before the Avengers 3 comes out.

Luke Cage

Power man. Luke Cage is from Harlem, he got sent to prison for doing a crime (he didn’t commit) and was experimented on. He ended up getting bullet proof skin and super strength. He has been an Avenger for quite some time, offering brute force to the team kind of like the hulk. Again it offers diversity to the team, and he’s such a well-known hero. We are all hoping to see him on the big screen sooner rather than later.

Iron Fist

Can’t talk about Luke Cage without the Iron Fist. Daniel Thomas has a sad back story about the death of his father and mother, he is found by an old tribe that teaches him martial arts. He fights a dragon and plunges his hands in the its heart and pulls out the power of the Iron Fist. There have been many in the past, now Danny has the power. He has superhuman abilities along with healing and a concentration of Chi on his fist. He becomes very good friends with Luke cage and the two of them are heroes for hire together. He has been an avenger though not nearly as steady as Luke Cage. People have been spreading rumors of a Heroes for Hire movie for years now. More than likely this movie would feature Luke and Danny and opens the doors for tons of heroes that would be easily shown in this setting.

Vision

Plenty of ester eggs have been made from the Avengers to the Vision. Lots of random ideas as to who he will be are being thrown around. Especially now with the coming of Ultron. As many of you know, the Vision was created by Ultron. He was sent to destroy the Avengers but was turned good instead. The Vision is a synthezoid with flight, superhuman abilities, solar projection, molecular disruption and control over mass. He is one of the more powerful avengers and is based on Wonder Man. He has a love interest in the scarlet witch who is also being introduced. Many rumors are that the vision is going to be based on Coulson. These rumors are majorly because of the “Cellist” References. It would be a great adition to the team because it adds something they don’t have on their team, a pure robot. To me if they are making a movie with Ultron, they have to add the Vision to their roster.

Wonder Man

Wonder Man may not have the best name, but he is one of the best Avengers. After his company was heading down hill, Simon Williams made a deal with Baron Zemo (One of Captain America’s greatest Villains) to get hit with an Ion blast. The blast gave him super human abilities along with the ability to project energy. He eventually was turned from a villain to hero and has ever sense been working with lots of different teams. Wonder Man also has the ability to live with out natural necesseties like food, water, and air which allows him to go in space. Even with that ability Wonder Man spends most of his time here on earth, fighting with the avengers and is surpassed by very few avengers in abilities.

These are just a few of the many Avengers that could use a little screen time. The main question isn’t really if they can make these characters, it’s can they fit them in the universe. As you can see the roster for the avengers could quickly fill up, if they include the falcon, quicksilver, and scarlet witch in the next avengers we could already see 9 of them. The expansion of the Cosmic universe can show a lot of different avengers who I didn’t show in this, and hopefully everyone can see their favorite character hit the big screen.

Next up, the Mutants.

I agree Beto, but I also want them to explore more parts of the universe.

beto

It sux that they are over, but im kind of glad the Iron Man movies are done, this way it gives Marvel a chance to let other character get their time in the spotlight and introduce new franchises.

I would love to see a Ms Marvel Film, however I think Marvel can introduce her in GOTG 2 (hopefully part of phase 3).

As for the heroes for hire, a movie wolud be great, but, they may as well have a TV show. Imagine heroes for hire every week, now that's cool.

Regarding Black Panther, I think for him, the only way is to have his own film, in order to give him the spotlight he deserves..

MAKE IT HAPPEN MARVEL!!!!!

Vision and wonderman... meh...

I suspect we'll get Vision in Avengers 3, possibly even at the end of Avengers: AOU (I'm just spit ballin' here).

Black Panther needs to happen, solo film first, then have him join the gang.

I am a huge Wonder Man fan and would love to see him eventually get in, preferably as his original story played out (Avengers 4 villain, dies at the end, then comes back a hero in Avengers 5).

Admittedly, I'm old school and prefer the original Captain Marvel. Never quite got on board with Ms. Marvel, but I wouldn't have a problem with her joining the team at some point.

What I DON'T want to see is some of Marvel's tricks from the 80's and 90's, like West Coast Avengers, Hellcat, Moondragon (or whatever that bald chick's name was)or characters that should either remain solo or join another team (Luke Cage comes to mind--would much rather see a Heroes for Hire film).

In my opinion, and this is probably just me, characters used in The Avengers should be over the top powerful, seeing as how they're called "Earth's Mightiest Heroes."

If Marvel wants to bring in lesser known characters for the MCU in team up formats, get The Defenders going and go that route. The Defenders would be perfect for introducing new characters and seeing fan reaction to them.

But that's just my two cents.

@citizen I'm going to talk more about the comsmic heroes more. Personally like Capt Marv more than Ms marv.

@danMcnice I don't know if this is what your talking about, But i was just saying vision and wonderman need to be in the avengers imho. Not solo films.

Also I would rather has Carol introduced instead of solo filmed imo

More Avengers is good, but they've got to stop with these title movies. Make an MCU film where you've got Rogers and Cage going to the same bank, and boom! There's a robbery in progress.

You don't need super-villains. They're awesome, truly, but it's very contrived.

Or, scratch that - have super-villains, but don't restrict it to "Thunderbolts" or the Masters of Evil. Make a freakin Reservoir Dogs with some "c-listers" going by their "villain" names for a heist gone wrong. Maybe they ran into trouble, maybe the police showed up too early, and maybe Wonder Man ain't who he says he is.

But stop with this good vs evil bit.

I love Carol, but I would be a little annoyed if Mar-vel didn't come first. He was one of marvels greatest heroes, and people act like he never existed. One of the few marvel characters that actually stayed dead(kinda), and who's death actually meaned something. Give me the cpt. first, and open the door for the misses.

Wonderman is also a character I would like to see, but way down the line. I also feel having him on the team with thor, and the hulk is way overpowered for anybody besides Thanos w/gauntlet. I think he should be saved for a time when Thor or hulk are not around, unless he is a villian first.

Now luke has been shining in the new avengers books, but I would still prefer a HfH tv show instead of him and danny on the avengers.

Agreed with bp all the way.

I actually really want to see 1 more Thor movie. He's got some great villains. Loki, Enchantress, Mel, and surtur are great. Cap has to have Baron Zemo in a movie, HAS. Hulk needs to face the leader. Other than those I don't really want to see the 6 guys we have right now in solo films.

Thats the point of comics. They fight battles we can't fight. not bank robbery, and they do use quite a few c list villains. Raza, the leaper, coldblood.

No, man. It's escapism and story-telling.

It's not about pairing...
Cap - Red Skull, Baron Zemo, Crossbones
Thor - Loki, Enchantress, Hela
Iron Man - Mandarin, Crimson Dynamo, Iron Monger

You need to navigate away from these frames and focus more on situations.

yes, but people watch comic book movies to see the characters. Yes they need a good story, but they want to see X take on Y because they have seen it in the comics for so long that they want it on the big screen.

Iron Man 3 and the Avengers disproves your theory.
Iron Man 3 basically made Killian an original character, the Mandarin a fraud, and was just a cool, fun action movie.

The Avengers' only new character was Maria Hill, and it remains the most successful comic book movie in history.

Get real, man. People want to watch exciting stories. You think everyone around the world yearns to see any of the characters listed in your article? Sure the fans do, but we're a small percentage.

GinjaNinja - 8/14/2013, 1:31 PM
But it had Iron man in it. If they had the exact same storyline without it being called iron man but iron guy or something instead, it wouldn't have made nearly as much. But the fact that they are the characters shows that they want to see them. I'm not saying they should have crappy stories, but they can easily do good stories while keeping the heroes with their respective villains. Thats what every comic book movie has ever done. why change it? Also people will like to see more and more characters added to a team. If they keep the same 6 guys sure they will make money but adding X and Y will always bring a few more people to watch the movies.
