Popular Brazilian Comic THE AWAKENER Getting Live-Action Adaptation And Animated Series

The Awakener, Brazilian writer Luciano Cunha's highly acclaimed comic book series, is getting a live-action adaptation and an animated series, both of which are set to begin shooting this year.

Brazilian comic book fans have something to get excited about as we're recently learned that Luciano Cunha's corruption fighting vigilante is getting a live-action adaptation! The Awakener's (O Doutrinador in portugese) first three printed editions have sold out and the hero's fan page is growing by leaps and bounds, something that the Brazilian adult/action comic book genre has never seen.

The Awakener will get both a feature film and an animated series.  The feature film is set to begin shooting in September of this year (2017) and the animated series is already in pre-production and will be released in April 2018. The feature film is set to be released in the second half of 2018.

Anyone remember the Argentine comic Cybersix and it's animated adaption on Fox in the fall of 99. That show though short lived had a bitching opening theme song, a great art style, and a pretty interesting world to work with. Plus the hero Cyber-6 had cape skills that would make Batman jealous. I wish that show got more of a chance then it did.

@pesmerga44 - there was a live action tv series too, with an actrees named Carolina Peleritti. It didn't last long but it was really cool.

So, if I was writing an article about a non-mainstream comic book, I would 1st give a synopsis of WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, AND HOW!!! So that people can at least understand something about the story. Just my 2 cents...

But to call this comic "highly acclaimed" or very popular in Brazil is far from reality....not many brazilian nerds know this character, and it's kind of new, it's not even such a classic here, as Capitão 7, Raio Negro, Quebra-Queixo or Judoka.

wow, there are more Brs than i thought there would be here. I am a mod of the MCU discord channel, it would be cool to have another Brazilian there. I am the only brazilian there as far as i know

I never heard of this, but I'm hoping that it will get an English dub if it gets brought over here (I'm assuming neither the cartoon, nor the movie will be shot in English because such a thing is rare, right? (An English production in a country where English isn't the main language). I could be wrong though, and this might (hopefully) be shot, and released in English.).

We'll just have to wait, and see.
