COMICS: Reviewing Titan Comics' DOCTOR WHO Team Up In DOCTOR WHO: THE THIRTEENTH DOCTOR YEAR 2 #1
There's been much excitement surrounding today's issue of Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor Year 2 as it serves as a re-imagining of the iconic Blink episode and sees two Doctors team up! Read on for more!
Doctor Who fans have been in the good hands of Titan Comics and Eisner Award-winning writer Jody Houser when it comes to the comic tales which follow the good Doctor around through space and time.
Today sees the release of the first issue of Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor: Year 2 get released, and it will have a special plan in fans hearts and collections for the simple fact that the issue serves as a team up between not only the titular Thirteenth Doctor, but also includes David Tennant's Tenth Doctor teaming up with our hero.
Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor: Year 2 Issue #1 serves as a re-imagining to the series episode Blink and sees two popular Doctos rely on each other to succeed since there are also twice as many villains. Set in the backdrop of 1960's London, our heroes face the Autons and the Weeping Angels the only way they can - together.
If there is a better artist to bring these actors and actresses to the colorful page than Roberta Ingranata (Witchblade), then I can't imagine what that must look like given the beautiful artwork we're treated to. Fans will recognize their favorite Doctors immediately thanks to the well-pronounced and gorgeous art-style of Ingranata lending her magic to the series.
The writer, meanwhile, Jody Houser (Supergirl, Stranger Things) flexes her Eisner Award-winning powers to pen another great story, using the inspiration of an iconic episode and twisting it in an unforgettable comic issue.
While this story may pick up where Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor left off, it is definitely a new series with a fresh feel that fans are going to be excited to sink their teeth into. Houser does an amazing job at writing characters that fans are already familiar with, and with Ingranata's help they jump off the page as though one were viewing the series on BBC.
All in all, the first issue of this team up has proven to be the tip of a very interesting iceberg. With both Doctors hot on the trail of something suspicious and villains that can't be seen - the suspense level is dialed up to eleven. The characters are well represented and this issue, while following twelve others in year one, serves as a fine jumping off point for the Thirteenth Doctor's second year.
Double the Doctor. Double the Villain. Double the Stakes. As the Weeping Angels and the Autons descend on 1960s London, it will take both the Thirteenth and Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) to save Earth from becoming an alien battleground! Time Lords and timelines cross paths in this reimagining of the iconic TV Episode Blink, by Eisner award winning writer Jody Houser and Witchblade artist Roberta Ingranata.
Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor Year 2 Issue #1 goes on sale today at your local comic retailer for $3.99 or digitally here.
