Straight from NYCC, we have our first official look at CW Seed's new Constantine animated series via a 3-minute sneak peek which sees John and Chaz pull up to an unconsecrated church, where some very angry demons await their arrival.

The clip gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the show, which will contain mild profanity and a smattering of blood and guts, and certainly seems to be going with a more adult-oriented tone than previous CW Seed projects.

Check it out below and let us know what you think in the usual place.

This all-new animated series from Warner Bros. Animation and Blue Ribbon Content follows DC’s popular comic book character John Constantine (voiced by the live action series star Matt Ryan), a seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult. Armed with an arcane knowledge of the dark arts and a wicked wit, he fights the good fight. With his soul already damned to hell, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. With the balance of good and evil on the line‎, Constantine uses his skills to face the supernatural terrors that threaten our world and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows… maybe there’s hope for him and his soul after all.

Executive produced by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Constantine [live action series]. upcoming Krypton), Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl), and Sarah Schechter (Blindspot, Riverdale, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), the series, which will premiere on CW Seed in early 2018, is produced by Butch Lukic (Justice League Action, Batman Unlimited), written by J.M. DeMatteis (Justice League Dark, Batman vs. Robin) and directed by Doug Murphy (Justice League Action, Young Justice).

Haven't watched Constantine (probably will at some point). Probably won't watch this. All I can say is; I like the look of the animation. 👍

That looks awesome. How do I watch these? Also, I'd love a JL dark series starring Ryan set in the Flarrowverse with Constantine as the leader (and a hot Zatana).

@MrFurious93 - Thank you, my friend. And Mystery Men rocked! It was way ahead of its time and would have done so much better now, with superhero movies being so popular.

DC has the best animated films, is unreachable for Marvel, but Constantine...

Nobody Likes Constantine!

Between Vixen, this and Freedom Fighters: The Ray CW Seed is killing it with the animated series! I hope they get released on Blu-Ray like Vixen did! Also is the Ray Animated tied directly to the Crossover? It seems that way what with the whole Reichsmen Nazi Supergirl, Flash and Green Arrow. Also it's on Earth X the Earth the baddies are supposed to be coming from!

This is great! Hits all the right notes. I hope it has long episodes. I've given up on their other animated shows because I can't bear to watch three minute episodes.

Sometimes i think they should just abandon the live action shows and go with this. So much cooler.

This actually works better as an animated project. The constraints the CW would have put on would make it dull. The animation looks good and the fantastic elements can be amplified thanks to everything being animated. I am all for it, and Matt Ryan should play Constantine in all incarnations of the character.
