AN OLD FRIEND CALLS FOR JOHN’S HELP WHEN AN ANCIENT EVIL SURFACES IN MEXICO – CLAIRE VAN DER BOOM GUEST STARS -- A call from Anne Marie (guest star Claire van der Boom), a member of the fateful Newcastle crew, sends John (Matt Ryan) and Chas (Charles Halford) to Mexico City and brings them closer to the source of The Rising Darkness. Meanwhile, Zed’s (Angélica Celaya) past comes back to haunt her.

In the Hellblazer comic books, Anne Marie turns to religion after the tragic events she witnessed as part of John Constantine's Newcastle Crew, becoming a nun before she once again crosses paths with her old friend. Claire van der Boom looks quite a bit different to the comic book version of Sister Anne Marie, and it should be interesting to see how else this take on her differs. What do you guys think?

This show is great. I am loving it each episode. Glad they are not throwing everything at us at once and actually letting the show build to something at a slow pace.

Matt's a great Constantine and i like the rest of the cast so far. The stories are good so far and there is nothing I can say that is that is just pain wrecking.

The show is definitely getting better. NBC is happy with it.
Who else would love to see Serinda Swan come back as Zatanna?
That would be smart move on the producers part, if they could get
her back as an occasional guest.

I won't say this show sucks, but there are a fair amount of (far) better tv shows to watch. The reality is that as a tv show it's extremely mediocre, feels like a Supernatural rip off. And as a comic book adaptation it's bad, because it has almost nothing to do with the comics books, apart from the same names and a couple similar moments.
Where is the dark atmosphere, the gritty world and the batshite crazy cases?

Shame. Could have been so much more on something like Netflix or Showtime.

Nevertheless, I'm going to watch it till it gets cancelled.

Enjoying this show so much.
It's like a cross between Friday the 13th the series and X-Files.

The show is effing amazing...the foreshadowing of Jim Corrigan becoming The Spectre gave me chills...and the tennis-match portrayal of Constantine and Papa Midnite's relationship was spot-on...I read HellBlazer and currently read the New 52 Constantine...the show is a great blend of both made into a whole new comic run...my only complaint is that it could get killed being aired at 10PM ET on a Friday night...you play a dangerous game, NBC!

i enjoy the show for what it is but I must admit it does feel like Constantine light. It just needs to have that same kinda dark feel like the blade movies or 30 days of night.

@xstartripper

I wrote: "And as a comic book adaptation it's bad, because it has almost nothing to do with the comics books, apart from the same names and a couple similar moments."

I meant we have the characters, but the feel, the excellent atmosphere of the comic book is missing.
@NoPhucksGiven is right on. Constantine light is a good name for it.

Anyone who says Constantine isn't faithful to the comics is huffing spray paint. SEVERAL episodes have been pulled directly from the pages.

Y'all must not have read much of the comics it's based on because it's NAILING it.

However, I will say that it's not as intense as the comics because it's NBC. Were it a Netflix or HBO/Showtime series, it'd be a lot darker. But as is, it's [frick]ing amazing.
