DAREDEVIL: Kevin Feige Finally Confirms That Charlie Cox Will Be The MCU's Man Without Fear

At long last, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige himself has confirmed that Charlie Cox will indeed reprise his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in a future project set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

After years of endless speculation, CinemaBlend has exclusively learned that Charlie Cox will indeed reprise his fan-favorite role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During an interview with Kevin Feige himself, the Marvel Studios President assertively confirmed, "If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen."

It's a rare move from Feige, who is famously known for holding all of his cards under his trademark hats. The timing is also curious, since this bombshell reveal comes just ten days ahead of the theatrical launch of Spider-Man: No Way Home, a movie Cox has heavily been rumored to appear in for months.

His cavalier reveal arrives just days after newcomer Alaqua Cox made her debut as Maya Lopez/Echo and in the midst of a news cycle that has been absolutely buzzing about co-star Vincent D'Onofrio's potential return as the Kingpin in Hawkeye

Feige didn't say when we could potentially see the Man Without Fear (MCU variant) return to action, but if he is introduced as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, then it seems probable that he could have a significant role to play in the upcoming EchoShe-Hulk, or Moon Knight Disney+ shows or any street-level project. A recent report also suggested that Marvel Studios had already begun actively developing a solo Daredevil project.

Whatever the end result may be, this is a massive development for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and opens the world to a whole new plethora of stories. Time to celebrate, because The Devil of Hell's Kitchen is back!

I’m ecstatic, but why do this less than two weeks away from No Way Home???

@SpideyPuffsMJ - first thing i thought too. This feels like a marketing move for sure. I wonder if Matt will show up in Spider-Man and we will see Darr Devil show up in the Hawkeye finally along with King Pin which ears the week after Spider-Man drops. 🤷

@SpideyPuffsMJ - i’m guessing it’s cos Kingpin will be back officially by Wednesday, played by D’onofrio, which would virtually confirm it anyway

@Cap1 - I would love to see D'onofrio back in that role. I have to admit, I didn't get it at first. D'onofrio played the role so differently than I always pictured the character. He seemed to be kinda slow....mentally, but that was early in the season. As the character developed, I started to really like what D'onofrio was doing with the role. Now, I can't imagine anyone else doing it.

@BruceParker - I get what you're saying, but I tend to think of characters like that as not being slow, but deliberate. As in deliberate in what they're saying. Thinking things out before they say it. Politicians often do it (especially lawyers). To be honest, it's a trait that I could probably do better with personally (a lot of us probably could as well, judging by some of the comments I've seen here). Just take a sec, take a deep breath, and think about what you're going to say before you say it. Then say it with the confidence that you've thought through it before you've said it. It seems to me that the most truly terrifying characters are those that do that. That slow, deliberate, confident cadence in their speech let's you know who's in charge. And that's scary in a confrontational situation. I've tried it with my wife but she just laughs at me so apparently I have a lot of work to do ;).

Wonderful news. Hopefully this implies that Jon Bernthal is back too.

@InfinitePunches - Bernthal was born to play Punisher. If Feige thinks Cox is irreplaceable as DD - he has to feel the same about JB

@TheLobster - One would hope. But I think it has more to do with the massive positive critical response that Charlie Cox (and Vincent D'Onofrio) received, pretty universally. None of the other Netflix heroes had quite that same level of a reaction. But this is all still very early, so we'll wait and see what secrets Feige has hidden under his cap.

@TheLobster - I agree he's perfect for the role. I'm just not too sure as to what kind of plans Disney/Marvel has for that character. Anything less than an R rating wouldn't do it justice.

@PantherKing - Yeahhh was thinking that but also his part is rumored to be pretty small so was curious if that's why he decided or maybe something about Hawkeye this week and maybe Kingpin actually shows up.

Him and colleen are the only ones they need to bring back from netflix
Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 12/5/2021, 11:41 PM
@dracula - Cox and Deborah Ann Woll are amazing in their roles. I'm not as fond of the choices that D'Onofrio and the writers made with Fisk, but assuming the MCU-Proper are slightly rebooted variants, they can tweak him (and the casting itself is still stellar).

My only problem with Henwick as Wing is that I don't think she'll ever get very much screen time. Colleen and Misty Knight are great characters (and I'd be fine seeing Missick return, as well), but they're routinely playing second fiddle to second stringers. But hey, if Feige is giving Agatha Harkness her own series, who knows how generous he might be.

I just don't see where you draw the line on who should be brought back from Netflix vs. who should be recast. Ritter and Colter are damn near iconic as Jones and Cage. Rachael Taylor is such a great performer (given good material) and even Finn Jones isn't without his charms. If we're talking about filling out the background of an MCU already-in-motion, these are all great options for cameos and minor characters. Especially when a character like Shang-Chi may do well to have a big supporting cast of martial-arts-oriented street-level characters to team-up with quick.

@Spock0Clock - I think Ritter is absolutely iconic. That first season is my favorite from all of the Netflix shows

Tpo81 - 12/6/2021, 1:12 AM
@Spock0Clock -I think Ritter, Bernthal, Wing, D’Onofrio, Bethel (Bullseye) & Cox obviously but everyone else can pound sand. I like both Colter in Evil & Jones in Game of Thrones. Both good actors but those characters were done wrong & it’s better to move on. Elodie Yung can stay to if she wants even though what they did with elektra was criminal
