Ryan Reynolds Deadpool earned $12.7 million at 2,975 locations in Thursday night preview screenings in the United States. The box office haul makes Deadpool the record holder for the box office total for an R-rated film opening on Thursday night.  Originally pegged for a $55+ million opening, Deadpool is now estimated to gross $70+ million over the 4-day President's Day weekend. Already off to an impressive international debut, Deadpool could be headed for a $125+ million opening (worldwide) from a modest production budget of just $58 million.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life. The film is directed by Tim Miller, with a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, and Leslie Uggams.

People don't give a rat's ass about who's producing. They see Marvel and they go.

Was a great movie. But not for me though. It's for the Millennials.
