DEADPOOL 2 Concept Art Features An Unexpected Mutant Tim Miller Was Planning To Include

This latest concept art for Deadpool 2 reveals that original director Tim Miller was planning to include an unexpected mutant in the sequel who would have undergone a pretty radical redesign. Take a look!

If you're not a massive X-Men fan, you may not have heard of Blaquesmith but he's someone who has a pretty long history with Cable and is another mutant who hails from the future. He's a character who has flirted with villainy now and again (he once tried to kill Cyclops, for example) but more often than not ends up on the side of angels. However, Tim Miller clearly had something very different in mind.

The director - who ended up not helming Deadpool 2 after creative differences with Ryan Reynolds - clearly wanted to ditch Blaquesmith's Moiloid appearance and instead wanted to give the character a more grounded look. It also appears as if he would have just been another prison escapee (rather than a time-traveller), possibly taking on a Juggernaut style role and serving as an antagonist of sorts here.

Anyway check out the concept art below and let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

I should have been a Firefist henchman, sent back in time to protect the Firefist from the past.

Nice drawings but boring/unoriginal design.

I'm glad they didn't waste too much of Cable's story. I'd like to see him in a solo movie later, and they'll need Blaquesmith.

@maxx - I still love that IM suit though. Far outdated, techwise, compared to the nanites he uses now, but it was so cool the way it worked - like it was right out of the comics. And I love how it was more of a "portable version". It seemed like it was a more slimmed down version than the one he gets from home. Like maybe this one can't fly, etc. Pretty cool. I think that movie was far better than people give it credit for. It wasn't perfect, but the best thing about it was the IronMan/WarMachine dynamic.

@benjithegreat - The briefcase suit (Mk V) is one of my favorites.

@ODanil - I think that's from his origin issue when he was just a kid.

@ODanil - Yeah, completely different take - not even the same character.

I don't know much about the character, but the one thing I always did like about him was his eyes - the big bulbous eyes with the tiny openings - like some sort of cave creature. If they would have done him without that, it would have been garbage That's his most distinguishing feature.

Makes sense. They were worried about messing up this guy but not making a mockery of and unceremoniously dispatching Black Tom Cassidy.

@inkniron - Cable shot him dead in the comics too. It's ok because he always comes back.

That design is totally taken from the horrible fox men adaptations of great characters. I'm very glad that they didn't use this as they clearly just being lazy with the character.
