ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL Set To Arrive On Blu-ray, DVD, & Digital HD Later This Month

It looks like 20th Century Fox's recent PG-13 re-release of their blockbuster summer hit, Deadpool 2, will be arriving on Blu-ray, DVD, & Digital HD a lot quicker than most might've anticipated.

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment officially announced today that Once Upon A Deadpool, the recent PG-13 re-release of their summer blockbuster Deadpool 2 will be arriving on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on Tuesday, January 15.

This is undoubtedly a fairly quick home video turnaround for a film that was just in theaters a few short weeks ago, which does essentially suggest it was likely in the works long before the new cut debuted in theaters last month.

While the Blu-ray doesn't seem to contain any special features - or at least not any new special features - a purchase will still help a good cause as 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has pledged to donate $1 for every purchase to Fudge Cancer, the same charity the studio also donated $1 for each ticket purchased during the film's festive theatrical release.

Once Upon A Deadpool capped off its limited two-week engagement with just over $7 million ($6.01M domestic; $993K foreign), which is a pretty successful haul for a re-release that opened in the same year as its original. The worldwide total for Deadpool 2, with both releases combined, is now $741.5 million ($324.5M domestic; $417M foreign), making it the eighth-highest grossing film of the year and the third-highest grossing X-Men film, behind only Deadpool ($783.1M) and X-Men: Days of Future Past ($747.9M).

LOS ANGELES, CA -- From the studio that brought you Anastasia and Ever After comes a fairy tale that doesn’t go by the book. @Subtlespammer24 -
You can wait until it comes on TBS or AMC. That's what it was recut for: TV.
I know Tim Miller is chuckling somewhere right now.

@Battabing - why’s he chuckling? I’m sure the “Terminator” he is doing right now has gotta be PG-13

@Subtlespammer24 - I think the next Terminator film is rated R.
I'd say Tim is chuckling because he was forced out of the Deadpool creative circle by Reynolds, and the character hasn't really done as well without him.

This experiment seems to have been a bust.

@theFUZZ008 - ...it wasn't an experiment to see how deadpool would work in the MCU it was just a pg-13 release for kids.. Marvel's already stated that they'd give DP the R Rating. Will you people STOP with this bullshit.

@Dresdenkingwack - there will still be restrictions though it will be like the Netflix shows violence ok but no fbombs and fake “sex scenes” where you cant see boobs

theFUZZ008 - 1/2/2019, 8:18 PM
@Dresdenkingwack - Not an MCU experiment. A bullshit Fox attempting to wring every dollar out of it-experiment.

Nope. Not gonna buy it. Everything I've read about the PG-13 cut is that feels like a rushed, watered-down version of the theatrical cut.

I might have considered buying a copy, had they decided to donate a more significant chunk of its sales to charity (50% or more) but they're only donating $1 for every $20 unit sold, only for the month of January. That's kinda crappy.

Was anything added in this PG13 cut actually good? Like a good addition that would have made the original sequel better? Just curious.
Dresdenkingwack
Dresdenkingwack - 1/2/2019, 5:16 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - I don't think so. I took my kids to see it, they liked it, they obviously didn't see the original release so they went in fresh. I thought there were some new takes that were funny but other than that unless you have kids that you think would like it, it's not really worth much of a watch.
