STRANGER THINGS Star David Harbour Eyed For Cable Role In DEADPOOL 2

Despite speculation that Pierce Brosnan has been cast as Cable in Deadpool 2, a new report claims that Stranger Things fan-favourite David Harbour is being eyed to play the time-travelling mutant.

According to The Wrap, David Harbour is now being eyed to take on the role of Cable in Deadpool 2. The Stranger Things star has reportedly screen-tested alongside Ryan Reynolds, but he has not yet been cast as the fan favourite mutant. The actor is also known for The Newsroom, Suicide Squad, and Black Mass, but it was the Netflix drama which arguably put him on the map.

Collider backs this report up and adds that Michael Shannon (Man of Steel) was recently in the mix before scheduling issues led to him having to drop out. Now that would have been fun to see!

Deadpool 2 doesn't have a release date just yet, so Fox has plenty of time to find the right actor for the role. Harbour would be an interesting pick, though, and if he does end up playing Cable, we'll see him in the X-Men Universe for a long time to come. After all, it's thought that the hero will play a key role in X-Force, while his time-travelling abilities could lead to cameos all over the place!

The two sources mentioned above are more than a little hit and miss, so for now, definitely put this one down as a rumour. With any luck, we'll hear something official soon, but stay tuned for updates.

I liked him in Stranger Things. Wasn't exactly my pic for Cable but the guy can act so I'm okay with it if he's chosen.

@Mercwitham0uth - This is turning into a case of,"So who hasn't been considered for Cable yet?"

@hummingbird68 - True. I wasn't feeling Brosnan tbh. Rob Liefeld has had twitter tag with Russell Crowe recently asking Russell to read for the part, and now Collider is saying Michael Shannon was testing for the part but dropped out due to other commitments. Oh yeah, then there was Kyle Chandler, but that ended up being a debunked rumor.

@Mercwitham0uth - He's a better choice for cable then Brosnan, but I think they can do better still. Hopefully this means Brosnan is Mr. Sinister.

I liked the idea of Kyle Chandler as Cable.

@CaptainA - Blech I didn't like the idea of Chandler as cable. Too much of a baby face. But yeah Brosnan was a big no for me.

@bishop12 - Can Rollins act? The only thing I ever saw him in was Sons of Anarchy where he played a white supremacist and all he did was stare a lot. Morse? Meh.

I hope they do chose someone good though. David Harbour is a good choice. He can play the straight and serious kind of guy.

Also wondering who will be cast as Domino. Hopefully it's not Kerry Washington.

@Mercwitham0uth - never considered him but he's definitely a better pick than Brosnan. Hoping that Jerry Washington rumor is also false.

@CaptDeadpool - One of the journalists for Collider tweeted that Kerry Washington is not being tested for Domino and never was considered for the role. Although Collider has been hit & miss as of late when it comes to scoops. I'm hoping that one was a hit.

@Mercwitham0uth - good find, she's a great actress but there is nothing about her or her resume that makes me think she would be a good Domino.

@dracula - Neeson and Lang are both too old for my taste. I always saw Cable as prematurely grey, not geriatric.
