Hollywood remains on strike and, as a result, the news cycle has changed. The trades have largely gone quiet when it comes to superhero movie news because upcoming projects are no longer being written or in the process of casting, while interviews are similarly few and far between due to actors hitting the picket lines.
Actors and writers are doing the right thing when it comes to standing up to studios, but for us, it makes things perhaps a little less exciting than usual.
Still, we're doing our best to keep you entertained - check out the Wolverine stories we'd like to see adapted for the MCU here - and sifting through the rumours to bring you at least an idea of what the next few years have in store for us.
Talking of that clawed mutant, in recent weeks, we've heard of plans for Deadpool 3 to feature a number of Wolverine Variants. Taron Egerton and Daniel Radcliffe are both rumoured to appear, and we may now have an idea about how and why that happens.
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, Deadpool sets out to find the "perfect" Wolverine, encountering a number of Variants before deciding that there's simply no way Hugh Jackman's Logan can be replaced.
If true, that's a really fun idea but one we may not get to see play out on screen as soon as we'd have liked thanks to the strikes.
During a recent interview, Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy revealed, "Well, like the rest of our industry, or at least large swaths of it, we are paused - we were halfway through filming. It was a joy every day, and that chemistry [between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman] is, I have to say - spoiler alert - as relentlessly awesome as we had all hoped it would be."
Alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all set to return in this threequel.
Emma Corrin is expected to play Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely take on the role of a TVA agent named Paradox. It's also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Liev Schreiber, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen among the many names rumoured to appear.
Deadpool 3 is currently set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
