Another day, another rumor! And, this time, it's a really big one as a relatively reliable scooper has seemingly revealed the identity of Emma Corrin's mystery X-Men villain, who will have her sights set on the Merc with a Mouth (Ryan Reynolds), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), and the entire X-Men universe at large in the upcoming Deadpool threequel.
According to CanWeGetSomeToast, who does have a better track record than most, the Primetime Emmy-nominated actress will be portraying Cassandra Nova, the evil twin sister of Charles Xavier.
Nova is Professor X's exact opposite and is hellbent on death and destruction. In the comics, she's a "mummudrai," a parasitic life form born bodiless on the astral plane. While she wasn't conceived with a body, she was able to copy Xavier's DNA to form her own body, but when she attempted to kill him in the womb with his own umbilical cord, Charles was able to strike back by hitting her with a psychic blast that caused her to be stillborn. She survived the defeat and over time was able to grow her body to a state where she was able to inflict maximum pain on Charles Xavier and his X-Men.
They also stress that Cassandra Nova isn't the main villain of the film, but is actually "ONE of the main villains," so it seems like there are a lot more surprises in store in the upcoming Shawn Levy-directed blockbuster.
Plus, if this rumor pans out, it's probably not a stretch to assume that the reports of Patrick Stewart's Professor X and several former X-Men actors returning for Deadpool 3 are also true.
In addition to Reynolds and Jackman, the supporting cast consists of Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa Carlysle), Stefan Kapičić (Piotr Rasputin/Colossus), Rob Delaney (Peter W.), Brianna Hildebrand (Eloise Phimister/Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, and Jennifer Garner (Elektra).
Several former X-Men cast members and a handful of MCU veterans have also been rumored to appear in various capacities - head over HERE to learn out more about who may (or may not) appear in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster.
Deadpool 3 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2024; but that may be subject to change due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
