And with that, Deadpool 3 has almost all of its original cast members back for the Merc with the Mouth's upcoming MCU debut.
Deadline reports today that actresses Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna have finalised deals to reprise their respective roles as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio in the upcoming threequel.
The former was a pivotal part of Wade Wilson's story from the start as Colossus' unwilling sidekick, and returned in the sequel with her girlfriend Yukio (a character first introduced in 1982's Wolverine #1). Fans have been hoping the duo will make a comeback here, though it's unclear how significant a role they'll play in the movie.
Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all also set to return. Will Josh Brolin get in on the fun as Cable? That remains to be seen.
Hugh Jackman officially joins the franchise as Wolverine after retiring from the role in 2017's Logan, while Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen have both signed up as mystery characters. Loki star Owen Wilson is rumoured to appear as Mobius in what's expected to be a Multiversal adventure, but that hasn't been confirmed or reported by the trades as of yet.
Most of us had expected Marvel Studios to either reboot Deadpool or bring him into the MCU as quickly as possible. Instead, the movie will take us back to Fox's X-Men Universe (or the reality adjacent to that inhabited by Wade) for what we have to believe will be a farewell to that before Avengers: Secret Wars.
It's possible Marvel Studios will leave Deadpool in a separate reality in order to avoid having his R-Rated antics in the PG-13 MCU, but if this threequel doesn't end with him officially on Earth-616, we'll be dropping our own fair share of f-bombs!
Directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with the Mouth, Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on November 8, 2024.
