Deadpool 3 may not meet its May 2024 release date as planned, but it remains perhaps the most intriguing and exciting MCU movie heading our way next year. 

At this point, it feels like we're starting to lose track of the rumours doing the rounds about Marvel Studios' plans for the R-Rated threequel. However, today brings some long-awaited details about what's planned for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

Set photos have suggested he and Wade Wilson find themselves in The Void at some point, while we've been hearing rumblings for a while now about Deadpool 3 marking the TVA's first appearance outside of Loki. 

It's said that, "Deadpool 3 is about the TVA picking up the PRIME versions of each hero to create a multiversal army to fight the Kangs. And they picked Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to recruit but he's not fully on board." 

Not only does this offer an insight into Logan's MCU future, but it gives us a clearer idea of where the Multiverse Saga is heading. Remember, we've been hearing about plans for a new Guardians of the Multiverse to assemble for some time, with Tom Holland's Spider-Man, for example, said to be the "prime" Peter Parker.

It's a compelling premise and one which really drives home how important the Merc with the Mouth's MCU debut will be to this shared world's future. Plus, we get to see Wolverine and Deadpool embark on a Multiversal road trip, a journey we're sure will be packed full of surprises. 

Who else will join a group that, for now, we're calling Avengers Prime, remains to be seen!

Alongside Ryan Reynolds and Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all set to return in this threequel.

Emma Corrin is expected to play Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely take on the role of a TVA agent named Paradox. It's also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Liev Schreiber, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and even Taylor Swift expected to appear.

Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024. Well, for now, at least.

If they say that Hugh is the prime Wolverine, it will be harder to recast him in the future. And it was already going to be difficult!

@DiegoMD - seriously, like jesus christ. Every decision they make is just making it harder on themselves. Bringing Hugh back despite having a definitive ending, leaving room for a complete fresh start (all gone now) > calling Hugh the "Prime" version of Wolverine in DP3 > making him the lead of an MCU Avengers movie... before we've even met an MCU-native Wolverine.

At this point I'm convinced Wolverine in live action is dying with Hugh Jackman. I thought it was just the fanboys being stubborn with refusing to recast him because "Nobody else can play Wolverine. Nobody", but seems like Feige/Marvel feel that way too. Which is shitty.

@braunermegda - Not always though. This one was right about George Clooney being Batman in the ending of Flash and how basically Ezra's Flash is now stuck in that Earth with him. And also got right half of the main developments that were gonna happen during Ahsoka once they reached Peridea.

It's just worth keeping some of this in mind just in case, not take it 100% confirmed until it happens.

What if,a villain put together the plan for Deadpool to gather prime heroes of the multiverse, BUT GAVE PATHS TO THE WRONG ONES....

Loki tricks Deadpool into the wrong search, setting up the multiversal heroes to defeat the Conqueror, using sub-par versions of the Avengers, Cosmic entities, Villains and X-Men. They are unsuccessful in overthrowing the final variant of the Conqueror who remains.

Kang, feeling unstoppable in his victory, finally basks in the glory of "assuming" that all his enemies have fallen.

Loki, takes the opportunity to strike. Using his knowledge of the timline, he sets out to seach new variants of the heroes on their prime, setting the stage for the true 617 (yeah, let it happen), MARVEL NOW [NEXUS OMNI-VERSE WARRIORS].

In the end, Loki is reporting to his new general, Infinity Visison...

@DiegoMD - Maybe the rumor of a reboot after Secret Wars is true if High is prime Wolverine? It could definitely be a culmination of everything from X-Men (sorry Wesley Snipes) to now It's not exactly a stretch considering it's the Multiverse Saga. I feel like if that's the case then Hugh being prime doesn't matter so much.

@DiegoMD - If the reboot after Secret Wars is true then there won't be a multiverse anymore. Or if there is, the MCU timeline will be the new prime timeline.

At the end of the day, however they choose to explain it' there's no way in hell Hugh Jackman will be the MCU Wolverine. They need someone who can be play Wolverine for AT LEAST 10 years once he's introduced. And Jackman isn't that guy.

Would be pretty cool if the latest Loki mid-Season trailer that ended with those foreboding words about "you won't believe what's coming" is a huge tease about Hugh Jackman's upcoming role here. Maybe something like Mobious watching him from a screen.

"Remember, we've been hearing about plans for a new Guardians of the Multiverse to assemble for some time" You would think that The Watcher, Uatu, must be surveilling all of this too and at some point will also reassemble his original team from What-If Season 1.

Real talk, though, this will be fun to see Jackman interact with Deadpool. I just really need the rumor about the MCU X-Men NOT focusing Wolverine to be true. Wolverine is a great character, and he's really cool, but he is not the heart of the X-Men. Let him be a side character that jumps through all the MCU properties with a little more prominence in X-Men. Let's get this fixed.

@SummersEssex - he is, as an Xmen fan it's hard to accept but no Logan no Xmen. The lowest grossing movies are the ones without him front and Center, yet his first 2 solo movies werent huge hits. He needs the team and the team needs him, he is heads and shoulders the most famous character. They might do a movie without him as the lead but he Will be prominent for sure

Tobey's Spider-man would freak if he saw Tom wearing the Venom suit, so they can't do that. Either Tom's Spider-man will face Venom before Kang Dynasty/Secret Wars OR he'll face him afterwards.

I'd lean more to afterwards. Spider-man 4 is looking to be more akin to a Miles Morales set-up movie at this point with Prowler rumored so that they can shove Miles into Secret Wars alongside Tobey, Tom and Andrew.

That doesn’t mean they can’t do the black suit for Tom. In fact, Tobey could be the one who warns him, which would be a fun interaction. Then spidey has the whole Venom story take place after secret wars.

I hope it’s not a set up movie. I feel like it’s too so for that.
