We're now less than a month away from the release of Deadpool and Wolverine, and those character rumors continue to swirl.
This latest report from Daniel Richtman claims that a certain actor will indeed reprise arguably his most famous role - and for more than just a cameo appearance.
Possible spoilers ahead.
Apparently, Wesley Snipes will return as Blade, but he will be sticking around as a full-on supporting character for a decent chunk of the movie's run-time. This would gel with a previous rumor that Wade Wilson and Logan will assemble their own team of "Avengers" made up of Multiverse Variants to take down Cassandra Nova.
While chatting on the first episode of The Official Marvel Podcast, Kevin Feige confirmed that the studio has kept at least a few characters under wraps until audiences are sitting in the theater to watch the threequel.
“The entire thing is just as gory and just as foul-mouthed and just as R-rated as you would expect but it also is extremely endearing and emotional. Seeing them interact with TVA agents, and people familiar with that organization from Loki season 1 and season 2 is a thrill. The combination of all those different worlds and all those different flavors, and perhaps even a few more that people won’t know about until they see the movie, is a thrill.”
Does this mean Snipes could stay on as Blade for Avengers: Secret Wars? It's possible, but Mahershala Ali is still set to play a new take on the Daywalker... eventually!
The MPAA recently gave the movie an official R-rating for: "Strong bloody violence and language throughout, gore, and sexual references."
“Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date - Deadpool & Wolverine," reads the new synopsis. "A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. When his homeworld faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctantlier... reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine to - F*ck. Synopses are so f*cking stupid.”
In addition to Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the title roles, Deadpool and Wolverine will see Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), who will play a TV agent and Charles Xavier's evil counterpart, Cassandra Nova.
Shawn Levy directs Deadpool and Wolverine from a script by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells.
The movie is set to open in U.S. & Canadian theaters on July 26, and will be available in IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Cinemark XD and premium screens everywhere.
