Former JAMES BOND Actor Pierce Brosnan Dismisses DEADPOOL 2 Cable Rumors As "Just Fabricated"

Those hoping that Piece Brosnan might be joining Ryan Reynolds in the Deadpool sequel are sure to be disappointed, as the Irish actor has shot down the recent rumor that he'd be playing Cable.

Back in January, a photo of Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds and Pierce Brosnan sitting together led to speculation that the latter might be in talks for a part in Deadpool 2. Obviously a picture on the internet isn't a whole lot to go on, but we then got something a little more solid from The Tracking Board's Jeff Sneider, who claimed the former 007 was indeed up for the role of Cable in the movie.

Well, Brosnan flat-out denied that this is the case while being interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel last night, stating that it's “not true. Nothing’s come my way yet.”

“We were sitting, waiting for a plane, the three of us, and the guy said, ‘Quick, let’s get a photograph,’ and [I] jump in the middle and Mr. Reynolds said, ‘Let’s do Three Wise Monkeys.’ [We] put it out there and it went viral. I don’t lie. They know where to find me, it’s just fabricated.”

Though it does sound like the Bag of Bones actor would be interested, last we heard Man of Steel's Michael Shannon was the front-runner - however, based on what we've been told, 20th Century Fox still hasn't settled on someone to play the time-travelling mutant badass.

Tell us, would you have liked to see Brosnan join The Merc with a Mouth as Cable in Deadpool 2? Sound off in the usual place.

That sucks because everyone wanted him for the role.

@McGee - He's too old for cable in my opinion. But Mr Sinister would be perfect.

Could be another Paul "It's just rumors man" Rudd thing.

He might be playing a villain and that is why he denied. Or he really isn't in it.

Couldn't see him in the role personally speaking, just didn't seem to fit. I don't know what all the hype was about.

Mr. Sinister would be a great role for him, never believed the Cable rumor, just not a good choice for him.

I'm really looking forward to seeing who is cast in this role but I strongly think Michael Shannon would be best cast as someone else. Cable just doesn't seem right to him in my opinion. Great actor nonetheless.

Why can't Josh Brolin play him? Because he's also playing Thanos? Does it say in his contract that he can't? Because if it doesn't...then work around his schedule.

I can't think of many actors that can pull off the look of Cable.

So I was watching Detroiters last night (one of the few good things to come out of Michigan) and I saw who I am ashamed I never thought of for Cable (if someone else has suggested him, please forgive me).

Having grown up on 90s wrestling, Nash was always one of my favorites. He can be funny (not necessary for Cable, but a sense of humor will help opposite Reynolds) and is of an imposing stature. Thoughts?

I must admit I can see Rob Pearlman as Cable. That goes more towards his comedic strengths. If we want to go younger/more serious I'd throw in Luke Goss. I think he could do the off-beat aspects as well.
